The battery cover on the camera must be removed - very easy. The material feels almost like that of Canon camera. With this battery grip, it really balances out and proportionate the camera well, especially when mounted with long lenses. This is a great and convenient way for me to do outdoor photography with the two extra batteries. It does make the camera heavier, but I would trade this for not missing out the money shot any time. There's a couple of minor issues I find. First, the battery compartments are like airtight. As a result, when ejecting the battery, it does not come out far enough for me to easily retrieve. Second, the required use of Shutter Release cable to control the shutter on this battery grip is a little bit of an inconvenience, and not very aesthetically pleasing. I have another model with battery grip that does not need cable like this, and it looks more professional in my opinion.
