I did every single puzzle in this book out of sheer desire to get my money's worth. As a die hard advanced logic puzzle solver, these were simply too easy. Its only saving grace is that it's a standard beginner's book. Don't bother if you are even somewhat familiar with any of the lesser known Japanese puzzles and are looking for a challenge.Besides most puzzles barely increasing in difficulty, the paper stock is cheap. Erasing even once compromises the paper and makes it prone to tearing. There was at least one puzzle, a Kakuro, that had two solutions without a doubt as I compared both solutions multiple times to be certain. The sheer size of this collection just doesn't make it worthwhile. I should have recycled it sooner.

Not bad, but a little bit easy...
This book has a number of interesting puzzles that I hadn't seen before: Masyu & Nurikabe are pretty interesting; Hitori is just silly and barely requires logic at all. Any of the Hitori puzzles can be solved in about 2 minutes... but the book is good for its variety. The biggest complaint I have is with the difficulty - there are very few puzzles that take longer than about 10 minutes. Most are a lot shorter. I prefer puzzles that are a little bit more challenging, but overall it's a good sampler.

Love it.
Love Sudoku. Then found that I love Hidato. The more Japanese puzzles I do, the more of them I become addicted to. This is a nice book to become "unplugged" to.

Interesting concept
It was definitely a good idea, but the explanations were a bit skimpy in my opinion. I already knew sudoku and kakuro and was interested in a different type of puzzle, but I will was not very impressed. The book was also way too thick. It's a puzzle book, it's supposed to be portable.

out of the ordinary puzzles
Although a few of the puzzle types are more common ,the others are very different. There are a lot of each puzzle type and range from easy to difficult. The one page to a puzzle provides a good size to work on with plenty of room on the margins for notes.

Not so good
I was disapppointed. There are six types of puzzles, including sudoku and kakuro, which were fine. However, I'm pretty good at puzzles, but two types were too convoluted for me to tackle. Also, the paper is very coarse newsprint, which is not good for pencils or erasers. In addition, the puzzles were so big that it was difficult to take in the entire row or column.I wouldn't recommend this book.
