It does exactly what it claims to do.
I was skeptical about this technology, but I needed to connect a wired-only Ethernet device located too far from the nearest network connection. I plugged these two in to power outlets, one at the device and the other next to my router, connected the Ethernet cables, and I am getting at least 30Mbps transfer rate. They are not on the same circuit, so the signal is traversing through our circuit breaker panel. I tried it initially with the two of them plugged into the same outlet next to the router just to see it work before I tried it with them in separate rooms.NOTE: Be sure you plug them in to the wall outlet, not through a power strip or extension cord and especially not through a surge protector. I did not try it with any of those, but the instructions were quite insistent about this, and I believe them.
