Beguiling story
I'm not a great fan of romantic fiction (too old and cynical) but I became deeply involved in this story. It has a wonderful setting - a mou!dering moated manor full of antique furniture and paintings, owned by three sisters, the third generation of a family of rose breeders, each struggling to save the family finances and deal with the damage done to them by their narcissistic, exploitative mother. Into their lives come an elderly lady and three very different men. The relationships are interesting, but for me the biggest and most compelling presence in the book is actually the roses, beautifully described and quite fascinating.

Readable escapism.
A pleasant easy read especially if you have any interest in roses. It is difficult to write a completely successful romantic novel as there is always an element of predictability. The problem with this novel was that the characters were not sufficiently well drawn to allow you to really empathise or get into their world. Without giving too much away, I also felt the introduction of personality disorder was unconvincingly treated and merely a plot device to explain poor relationships and provide a shared understanding between characters. By the numbers but readable escapism.

The Rose Girls
I chose this novel from its cover and title and as I m obsessed with roses really enjoyed the story which I found very true to life from the emotional side after a parants passing having experienced most of the feelings this family felt.I live inear the coast and roses dont do too well in our soil or condition but love them so much Im always reading up or sending for a rose. I often think of the the growers and this was set in Constable country ..my favourite artist too although like in the story I adore still life rose paintings as well . Now living 200 miles now from Suffolk I ve toured it plus Nayland. and was actually born in Essex.. Great homely read. Thankyou.

An intersting and enthralling book.
I enjoyed The Rose Girls a lot and as I am interested in gardens too, I found both the story and its setting most interesting. It also made me think of my own past when Ilived in the country and enjoyed a beautiful garden.. I thought too that although other authors have written books like it, they have't been as skilful as Victoria in doing it. A hero, who is not perfect or handsome and a sensible heroine. That's what I like. . .

Lovely, intense romance with roses!
Three sisters living in a dilapidated manor house in Suffolk, they come from a famous family who have grown roses to the highest standards. The story follows all their fortunes, tense Celeste, who could never please her late mother, sensitive Gertie, Who falls for a married man, and lovely Evie, who has her own secrets. The manor house is falling down around their ears, but there is no money to pay for the necessary repairs. Celeste feels they must sell off some of the beautiful paintings which their grandfather had bought over the years to save the manor from ruin. The relationships between the sisters is well drawn, and you can practically smell the roses...

Good story, poor plotting and weak characters
A lovely undemanding story of three sisters overcoming obstacles to get to the happy ending. I would have liked to have given five stars but it loses a point for dodgy dialogue and just one too many obvious plotlines thrown in to get the writer out of a hole, and some rather weak characters.I will definitely try some other works by this writer as I like her style but didn't find this book very well written. Here's hoping the novels improve with experience.

A story of three sisters and all that life has to throw at them - a really good book.
This is above all a story of three sisters. The interactions between them and the dynamics between older sister, middle sister and youngest sister……. Having two sisters myself it all rang very true!!When Celeste, the elder sister arrives back at the family rose growing business, and family home, after the mother’s death, she is feeling reserved and unhappy and the tensions run high between the three of them, with Evie and Gertie having secrets of their own. There is no big plot with this story, but it spins along at a fair enough pace - with day to day problems that fall in the path of the sisters, and there are plenty of heated and passionate disagreements on how the business and family home will go forward now the mother is dead.It helps if you like roses ! There’s a lot of interesting history and information about roses woven into the story. The ending is a bit predictable but nevertheless enjoyable – and I do love a happy ending.I chose this book from the four Kindle First's offers. I had never read any of this author’s books before and have to admit that I only picked it because I read in the blurb that she rescues animals…… which we do too, and so I felt an affinity to her. I will certainly explore some of her other books now after reading Rose Girls.

The Rose Girls
I found this book really hard to get through, 70% of the book was about roses. The colour, the petals, the smell, the name of the rose, it was driving me mad and that made me skip some of the book. If I wanted to know that much about roses I would have brought a gardening book. The only saving grace was Julian, i really liked his character but there was not much of a story to get a real sense of what this book was really about.

The Rose Girls
As I grew up in a 400 year old House, in which my parents had an orphanage and a beautiful Garden with a lot of Roses, Hydrangeas and a beautiful View to the Lake. This book transported me back to my wonderful Childhood. I am living now in Australia, but in my Dreams I still visit our House and garden. Thank you for the beautiful Book, it helped me to understand a lot. And the cent of Roses makes me smile and be happy.

An enjoyable read
A very pleasant read. It was very easy to become involved in the lives of the sisters following their mother's death. The outcome was a little predictable but it didn't ruin the enjoyment I got from reading the story. And it had a happy ending which is always a good result.

The rose girls
This was a very good family oriented story. I enjoyed reading itv very much and would love those old scented roses in my garden. Today’s roses are pretty to look at but have hardly any scent such a shame. I’m very happy with the ending. It was a feel good story and the sisters finally found happiness in their lives. Thank you for this novel

This is such a beautiful story, that will take you to an idyllic country setting.Roses, roses and again roses everywhere, and you can almost smell their scent, while the story unfolds. And what a story it is.I absolutely loved it, and it's probably my favourite book by Victoria so far.

Ganz nett

A good read
Very nicely written the description of the gardens and the house made it easy to picture them. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and plan to read more of Victoria Connelly's books.
