The mighty Hood revealed.
I already have the book. But I needed another to use as a workshop manual for model building projects as I have an extensive collection of Hood models to build. This put simply is best books er written about our most famous war ship, a war ship that for 20 years was the envy of the world and the symbol of British Naval power. Put simply, this book is the equivalent of a Haynes Manual of HMS Hood with unparalleled detail, cross sections, plan drawings, photos and statistics relating specifically to Hood. There are detailed looks at the hull structure, machinery, and most important for model builders who wish to modify their kits, all of the different configurations she has worn through here various refitting and rearming are provided.A hard back with dust cover, the. Intent is black and white, drawings range from wire frame, architectural blue prints and cross sections with an engineering aspect. Nothing is left out from keel plating, rivet plating, hull structure, main guns, engines, super structure, a deck by deck breakdown of all the different decks with descriptions of all living and working spaces found in the ship. Every detail of the ships boats are covered, rigging patterns and even the patterning of the deck planking is covered.I also have the HMS Belfast book of this series which is also stunning. A must have book of the mighty Hood.

Locating the fold out plan
Very good book. The pull out plan is on the reverse of the book cover itself, NOT inside the book. I had to remove an outer plastic cover and then the book cover underneath. It doesn’t damage the book because it is a hard backed book that doesn’t need a cover.

Detailed technical book
This is a wonderful book giving technical details of HMS Hood. The first 30-odd pages give a potted history of the development and history of the ship together with her sinking. The remaining 90 plus pages are detailed drawings of the Hood, inside and out. This is not a book for someone looking for a maritme history book but rather a technical manual. For anybody looking for a reference book for a modelling project I doubt this book could be bettered. The drawings start with the hull and end 90 pages later with the 1930s era catapult. Most sverything inbetween is then covered.A very thorough and interesting technical book which I recommend.

The Bible of HMS Hood.
The very book you need if your building and model of the might and powerful HMS Hood. It's all here, history, photographs, drawings, cross sectional drawings, numbered descriptions of parts and placements of equipment. Just about every aspect of the Hood is covered here from deck by deck drawings, drawings and breakdowns of the hull, guns, turrets...just everything!I have two copies, one for best and one for work as I have a few models of her to build so one copy will get messy in the process.

Fantastic!
Fantastic resource.Answered a lot of questions I'd had. You really cannot get get a better single-book resource. It answers more questions in one concise issue than days of searching around online. The only better resource I suspect would be the admiralty itself.Includes deck layouts, hull cross sections, turret details including internals and mechanical workings, Internal layouts of the hull, history, explanation and analysis. If you are a fan of the Mighty Hood this is the book for you
