Just Avoid a GPU Bottleneck and all is Well - I had been using a lower FX4300 for a while and although it got the job done a lot of my gaming experiences had obvious CPU strain resulting in lag spikes. Moving on to this all that has since been eradicated and titles such as Assassins Creed Odyssey now run with a consistently flat line and rock steady CPU use instead of constantly spiking as usage ramps up and down. Playing The Division 2 at 1080p I'm able to push settings further than I expected and still get a silky smooth frame rate coupled with a lower end mid range 4GB GPU. Desktop use is swift and painless. All in all you can't go wrong with this for the price and my temps in HWMonitor never go beyond 65c when under heavy load gaming with an idle temp of just 31 C. Sure you could go for a Ryzen but if you aren't all that bothered about competing in the latest hardware rat race this will do your system just fine and do it with style.

Having in mind the fast changing world of technology some might think that the Ryzen is the best solution,I would agree but at the moment you can still work with this CPU well and in some time consider Ryzen as a replacement,if you are an AMD fan :)

**Q: what one is better for mid range gaming the fx-8300 or fx-8350 i currently have a 6300 thanks**
A: It may seem odd but the FX-8300 and FX-8350 are actually the same chip, made at the same time, on the same wafer. What's the difference? Testing results. When they make a hundred chips or so on a wafer each will turn out a little better or worse on the microscopic scale. The FX-8300 is guaranteed to be stable a 3.3Ghz @ 95W. The FX-8350 is guaranteed to be stable at up to 4.2Ghz @ 125W. Is it possible to get an FX-8300 labeled chip that can be overclocked higher than an FX-8350 can? It's rare but yes. This is called getting a "golden chip". Don't count on it though. The chip is is probably labeled FX-8300 because it failed the tests that an FX-8350 must pass. It depends on how much cost is a factor to you, but I would at least get an FX-8320. At least that is guaranteed to be stable at 4Ghz which is pretty close to the FX-8350's 4.2Ghz. An FX-8300 might not even overclock on 3.5 Ghz, then again you might get one that overclocks to 4.6 Ghz. It's a toss of the dice but if you pay extra for higher grade chip you will avoid some chips that don't make the grade.

Bought it for work and gaming.It works great even with the stock cooler,did not overclock it yet.I might in the future,then I will think about better cooling solution. This is a great cpu and has great OC if you have the cooler, this is also a cheap alternative to some of the more expensive models such as 8350 or 8320 doesn't to have the power but it stands it's ground but buy this if you don't want to wait any later, but later down the road you can purchase one of the other said models but this CPU is just perfect for any cheap budget builds and them extra cores come in extremely handy in editing LET DOWNS: Cpu cooler is very loud and can sound like your computer may gain lift but even I don't really care so it's a 5 from me Sorry for the crap pic but it's something
