I mean *very* ancient. A more modern BIOS (i.e. UEFI) might not need a BIOS extension to make use of that board, as the board didn't show any sign of an extension. Now, BIOSes (be legacy or UEFI) vary a lot depending on, well, a lot of things. Whoever has been exposed to the very internal guts of the BIOS, know how "interesting" it can get. As a conclusion, though it doesn't seem to work in the way you're interested, it might work with some motherboards. However my card arrived in tact and as long as your careful and not too forceful plugging things in you should be fine. I didn't have do anything else but plug it in and boot up my PC.
