I decided to order direct from the UK supplier (D&H) and am so glad I did. I've been looking for something like this for years. The kit is so easy to set up - literally just clip on the rear LEDs and it's good to go! The software took about 3 mins to figure out. There's a page for settings and viewing scanned images and another page for actually scanning. Easy peasy. The speed of scanning is just extraordinary. I've scanned 4 volumes, totally about 3000 pages, in about 4 hours. I'm sure that, with practice, it'll be even quicker next time. My biggest mistake was not to trust the software more; where pages were curved, I tried to over-compensate with the 'finger cots' which allow you to hold down the side of the page, and I moved my fingers quite a few times during scanning. In many cases, all I needed to do was just rest the cots on the side of the page to apply very light pressure (without my finger in the cot) and the page scanned perfectly. The books that I was scanning are so thick and small and the pages so thin (bible paper) I knew it would be a challenge, but the scanner did an exceptional job.
