I'm a DIYer putting in a Slimline shower pan fixed in mortar on a concrete floor. Had to cut off the drainpipe after install and any screw up would be catastrophic. I got this product and the one with the aluminum head and spring-loaded blade to compare. After reading a detailed review of the aluminum head/spring loaded system I chose not use it due to possibility of plastic getting caught in the blade (if run at the wrong speed), jamming the head in the pipe. So I used this device which worked really well. The wide white puck on top allows you to slide it around the top of the pipe; you get a nice level cut (or at least as level as the top of the pipe). Several blade options for various pipe wall thicknesses. Allen wrenches included are of OK quality. I practiced on some pipe before using this and felt very comfortable doing what I had to do.

Great for DIY projects. I was surprised by the cutting ability of the saws. I was able to cut numerous pieces of PVC pipe in a short amount of time. The kit includes everything needed to cut up to 2” pipe easily.

I had to cut off and install new 4" PVC vent pipes for my septic system leach field. This meant cutting off the old vent pipes below ground level. The only way to get at it was to dig around the outside of the pipes and then cut the pipes from the inside. I had the Dewalt inside cutter. It's not worth anything. It heats the plastic to mush while attempting to cut. This tool however sliced through the 4 inch pipe wall smoothly and much more quickly. I was done cutting in mere minutes and the cutter, though still an abrasive cutter, was thin metal and sliced smoothly through the plastic without melting it like the Dewalt abrasive cutter. I mentioned the product is not as shown in the Amazon picture. It has a handle on the "stop" that allows you to accurately guide the cut up to 7 inches away from the cut. This is very handy and allows much more accurate cutting than the Dewalt cutter. A measure of cutting efficiency is that it did not even discharge the battery on my little Makita driver after cutting the two 4 inch pipes. The Dewalt, pipe cutter which I tried earlier definitely discharged the battery mid cut because the fat abrasive cutter was getting stuck in hot gooey melted plastic. A thin metal abrasive cutter is definitely superior in both cutting speed and not melting the plastic pipe while cutting.

The set screw for the guide disc came off with the first use. Lost forever down the pipe. I had it tightened well but the vibration must have loosened it. Blade cuts okay, not the sharpest.

Worth every penny. Will have it forever. Made my project so easy. Novice plumber must have.

Worked very well on 3 inch abs. HEADS UP. For extra support while cutting a regular skill saw blade fit over the bearing Like it was made for it.

My husband is happy with this tool, very handy to cut pipes.

It did the job. I was able to cut the pipe at the right measurement.
