It's a very unique piece of hardware
It's a little quirky, but it works and is reliable. You have to connect it to your router with a ethernet cable (although I heard that new updates allow you to just connect to WiFi--not sure). It doubles as a chime if you have the Eufy S340 doorbell, which I do. I connects beautifully and delivers fast video from my Eufy floodlight. You can upgrade the storage with a 2.5 hard drive, which I did. It's small device and that's a good thing. App is good and functional. I call it quirky because it does several things at once, and I don't mean that as a pejorative. The chime, the storage, the hub for all of your Eufy cameras. Plus it has some AI features as well that center on identifying familiar faces. They call it a home base because I'm not sure if they have a single name to describe its functionality. I give it 5 stars because local storage is hard to come by in a subscription-based, cloud storage world. In fact, I bought Eufy products for that very reason. I use the cloud, but I'm tired of it. I want hardware. I want storage I can hold. You barely get local storage on your phones or computers anymore. I'm glad to see something where you can toss few TBs in the case and call it a day.

Excellent for your home security setup no monthly fee very intuitive very customer friendly
Excellent and required for your eufy home setup for security. I can't say enough good things about these guys. In the beginning I had connectivity issues and they respond immediately inside the app they'll email you, I'm very happy with it I have a drug dealer in criminal living next to me in my apartment building and I had one of his people trying random keys in my lock I couldn't believe it so I got my whole home set up eufy and it's been amazing a piece of mind is back I can leave the house again without worrying someone's going to break in I have two devices connected to mine I had such a good experience with my eufy doorbell and the home base I expanded and got a pan and tilt internal camera that can continuously record and you can manage all this from the home base. Like I said I can't say enough good things about these guys I just had a really bad traumatic heart surgery a while back and I wasn't in fighting form and I live in an area that's kind of questionable as far as the people living directly around me this is brought a lot of Peace of mind to my life there's so much functionality here I can't go through it all it's amazing you can expand the storage so I got an SATA drive I think I went with the two terabyte for a good price it slides right in so expanding is not a problem and the best part is the people will reach out to you if you have any trouble with it like they are good about it. There are no monthly bills you can opt for things like a video archive so you can continuously record and you can even get 24-hour monitoring but you really in my opinion you don't need to go that far with it just buying this you can integrate it into your home Wi-Fi and you can monitor it yourself when you're away through an app and like I say it doesn't cost a cent won't you buy it you're set up that's what I like they put you in charge now I opted for a year of off-site storage and it was pretty inexpensive I think was a few bucks for a whole year and like I said that's an option you don't even got to pay anything once you got this if you got a Wi-Fi in your home you got it under control you can sit for like all kind of things different profiles so how all of your security items will behave like how they behave when you're away how they behave when you're out of town how they behave when you're home and you can program it all these different ways and it's a pretty straightforward situation once a very small learning curve I'd say when you're into the heart of day two you'll have it pretty much figured out and mastered by day three and that's not just on it 24/7 when you first get it you're going to you're going to learn it of course but in a couple days you're going to have the whole thing set up and you'll be a heck of a lot more secure you can literally watch your cameras live while you're in the store away from your home, you can flip between camera feeds like I have one inside and one on my door I want it all through the home base 3, and I'll just check the door check inside it is it good thing. Very happy customer and I have and do recommend it to my friends and family. It's like ring but without having a monthly fee pretty Sharp

Smooth Integration and Reliable
The Eufy HomeBase works very well as the central hub for managing multiple security devices. Setup is straightforward, and it keeps everything connected and running smoothly. The local storage feature is especially convenient and helps avoid extra subscription concerns. Overall, it’s a reliable and user-friendly system hub that improves the overall Eufy experience.

Get help were you can
This HomeBase was fairly easy to set up. This homeBase is the router for your cameras like the router is to your TV/Internet access. As well as these 2 systems work together to insure Wi-fy connectivity. So watch a few Utube videos, read your instructions and your on your way to that feeling of security that we all want.

Security With The Option of No Subscription
Great product. Easy to set up with great step by step. The Homebase was absolutely compatible with the S380 camera and the S330 doorbell. The house is all set up with motion detection and wonderful picture quality. This house is secure. This is a good value for your money. One improvement could be the hard drive selections with particular parameters such as 2.5” SSD SATA. I purchased the 1TB Samsung EVO 870, but its memory reads that I have used 900 GB. I purchased the Samsung QVO 870 made for surveillance. 8TB is reaching $1200.

Local Storage That still REQUIRES the Cloud.
I should have bought the Reolink Home Hub PRO. It's more $$, but doesn't have the flaws, development shortcuts, or security concerns this does! Bottom line: no one should buy this. It’s a complete waste of money. Other than letting you “consolidate the storage location” of your recordings, nothing else works as advertised. Every feature they hyped either fails outright or actively makes the rest of the system perform worse. You’re literally paying to downgrade your setup. Update: Save your money. Buy a 128GB SD card for your cameras and forget about this thing. The SD cards will be cheaper and actually work. I have nothing good to say about this device. It messes with your WiFi, it slows down live camera access, and it doesn’t filter or consolidate notifications. My camera gives off more false positives when connected to it, and it even greatly limits the range of some models. Once they’re paired with this box, they can’t use your existing WiFi because they’re forced to connect only to the homebase’s network. For example: Solocam S220. Which has an extremely poor wifi chipset and antenna inside. But this and you'll paying good money to make your setup worse. And the best part, Eufy clearly doesn’t care. A few simple options and this thing might have been worth it. Remember: after connecting any camera to this especially those that you configure multi bridge on, provided that camera supports it. Which not all of them do of course. If the connection to the home base fails due to a Wi-Fi issue or the home base being offline for some reason. Your recordings are lost. These devices do not *safe* fail and continue recording to their local onboard storage. Meaning you will have no records of the events that are happening even if you can go into the camera and see a live view. Just another example of how the homebase makes your cameras worse. Update: despite the matrix of supported cameras. Even for those supported, it doesn't mean you can use the "automation" option with them.... Again what a let down this thing is. Update: Since there’s no way to configure anything related to the WiFi network it creates, the device insists on using channel 11, which is an awful choice in my area. Because of that, I’m having to reboot it sometimes twice a day just to get the cameras that rely on this custom WiFi network to reconnect. I honestly can’t believe how poorly this entire system was designed. Update again: This thing can’t even consolidate notifications in one place. All my cameras are supported, yet some of them have their “smart” notification settings outside of the HomeBase. So now I have to configure the HomeBase and each camera individually. Total waste of money. Update: Just found out it can’t delete footage properly. If you want to remove a single clip, your only option is to delete the entire day. It'll let you delete the little “motion” or “person” markers, but those don’t remove the footage. They’re basically stickers. To delete anything real, you have to wipe every recording from that day. It’s like nobody designing this ever used it. Update: I'm honestly struggling to see the point of this device. At best it reduces a little battery drain or SD card wear on certain cameras. It doesn’t work with all Eufy products, and even when something does connect to it, that doesn’t mean it gains the features Eufy advertises. If this thing is supposed to handle the “AI” processing, that should apply across every camera since the work is done on the image. Instead, most devices barely change, and only a couple get a few new checkboxes. For example: I have two wall cameras that can connect to the HomeBase and store events on it. That’s it. No new AI features at all. It also can’t centralize or de duplicate notifications. There’s nothing “smart” about the alert handling. The only extra feature is triggering the built in alarm, which is great unless someone just grabs the HomeBase, because then you lose the alarm, the storage, and half your system. Update: The more you use this, the more you realize how bad it really is. No alerts when a camera goes offline. “AI” only works outdoors, in perfect lighting, at close range. Cars get tagged as “motion” almost every time. Known faces get labeled as “person.” I’ve never had a single pet recognized. Just more “motion.” A complete waste. Update: Learned another one. If you have a camera recording continuously and it’s connected to a HomeBase, when that camera goes offline you can only view the recorded events. The continuous footage you set up doesn’t show up at all. At this point it’s a major letdown in every possible way. Update: This is a security nightmare. If you try to join the device to your WiFi network, it rejects passwords with special characters. Then it creates its own hidden 2.4 GHz network with an SSID you can’t configure. You can’t change its channel to avoid interference. You can’t disable it. And the password it generates was cracked in under a minute. I recreated that same network on my access points just to extend coverage for setup, something this device should support without all this nonsense. Original: The Eufy HomeBase S380, like nearly all Eufy devices, is fundamentally cloud dependent. Despite Eufy’s “local storage” claims, you need an active internet connection for the system to work properly. Without it, you lose access to essential features, including viewing and managing your recordings. The cameras and HomeBase must communicate with Eufy’s servers for device recognition, playback, notifications, and app connectivity. If that cloud link is broken for any reason, every camera shows as offline, even though they’re physically up and connected on your LAN. This reveals the core problem: you cannot view or manage your own locally stored recordings without Eufy’s cloud being available. The system forces authentication and routing through their servers before the app can access local video. Your “local” system is only as reliable as Eufy’s cloud. Some wired cameras support RTSP, but only for the live feed. Recorded footage is still locked behind the Eufy app and their cloud gating. Many cameras don’t support RTSP at all. In short: your recordings may reside on the HomeBase, but the ecosystem is cloud gated. If Eufy’s servers go down, or your internet drops, your cameras and HomeBase become inaccessible for playback or monitoring. Eufy could have implemented local access through a web interface. They simply chose not to.

Updated and Works Well with Newer Cams
Picked up this updated homebase for the newer security cameras. Works great and has the storage and technology that is needed for most of the indoor and outdoor security cams. Easy set up to WiFi and it accepted every camera that was added to it on the first try. Seems very durable and well made, like my homebase 2. I like the idea I can add more storage in the future. AI tracking is very good for motion detection. I like the choice between color and black/white in Night Vision. Super easy to control many of the features when using the app. The app also has my Eufy homebase 2 for my older video doorbells along with the Homebase 3. Very nice to have everything being controlled in one app. All cams are detailed and crystal clear. This Homebase is definitely something to invest in. While Homebase 2 is very similar, many of the new (higher tech) cams can't connect to Homebase 2. Homebase 3 is the choice. Recommend it highly.

More storage, easier to manage IMHO
I should note, that I am only a week into usage after my purchase and setup/install of the cameras and Homebase. If anything collapses and my cameras assist Skynet in the takeover on August 29, 2025, then I'll update later. I ordered the S380 Homebase to accompany three Eufy S340 Solocams. Then I ordered a Samsung 870EVO 1TB SSD. Hooking up the Homebase was a simple as a) installing the app on my iPhone 15Pro Max. b) plugging the ether-net cord into my router and then into the Homebase c) plugging the Homebase into a power source and d) following the instructions in the app to gain access to the Homebase and the cameras (pushing the sync button, scanning the QR codes on the base and cameras). I cannot vouch for anyone else's experience, as I have only mine, but the walk-through on the app was straightforward and worked easily. I had no issue getting the Homebase to recognize my router and then getting the Homebase to recognize the cameras. Even after I accidentally turned off the power to it, it was nothing more than ensuring that it was plugged back in. Less than two minutes later, all cameras were communicating with the Homebase again and I could run through the menus and playbacks without a problem. Installing the extra storage drive - on the face of it - was super easy. Just unplug the base, attach the drive and slide it back into the base. The Homebase recognized my SSD right away (Use the app to check the status and whether or not it 'sees' it), and all I had to do after that was format it. Boom, I have enough storage I won't have to worry about it for an extended period. Again, I cannot speak to anyone else's issues, but my set up and experience so far has been seamless. I do wonder if firmware updates have resolved some of the issues other folks experienced. So far so good and I have no complaints at the moment. I do believe that having your router centrally located in your home will help with connectivity. Also, I noted that by simply moving the Homebase out from BEHIND a TV and instead to the left of it and thus closer to two cameras, connectivity improved immediately for one camera. Knock on wood, ALL three cameras are solidly connected. This system was a relatively easy choice for me. I had two people I trust recommend it. It was on par with or a little less than other brands with similar capabilities and features (Nest, Ring, Arlo). There is no subscription fee and with the ability to dramatically upgrade storage, you likely will never need cloud storage if you're just using it for home security (I would say a business might have different needs). Not having to pay a subscription fee will (albeit slowly) offset the cost of the system and SSD I purchased.
