Julian Bowen Astoria Set of 2 Dining Chairs, Oak/Brown

Good quality product, easy to assemble, comfortable & very sturdy, good value for money, highly recommend.

We had been looking for replacement dining chairs but didn't want cheap, flimsy things but also didn't want to spend hundreds of pounds. I was about to buy ones for around £100 each from an oak specialist website when I came across these on Amazon. They looked good in the pics and having already owned Julian Bowen stuff meant I knew the quality would be good, the price was more than good at under £150 for a pair and they were available via Prime - winner!! I bought two pairs and I have to say I am very happy (more importantly, my wife is also). They are extremely well made, the finish is really good and they fit together without needing to manually rectify any manufacturing defects yourself - the holes were where they were meant to be and the screws went in perfect. Can't praise them enough. In fact I'm going to buy another pair when they are back in stock.

While I can say these are good sturdy chairs, I did not like the white paper stickers which were used and proved very hard to remove. Also for the cost it would have been nice if the seats were available in other colours instead of just brown. On another matter as the chairs are delivered in pairs, why couldn't they be prebuilt, with only the seats to be added, they would still weigh the same! I didn't use this service, but having to pay for the chairs to be assembled in the home I thought was a rip off. It was only because I needed sturdy chairs urgently, that I chose them

I needed 8 new chairs but bought 2 of these chairs initially just to see what the quality is like. They’re a little fiddly to build but once you’ve got the hang of it the next ones build much quicker.They were to replace our old chairs which were quite expensive. These in fact are much better, much more sturdy and solid than our old ones. They’re very comfy too. We ordered another 8 and are very happy with them.

Wished I hadnt ordered these chairs. I ordered 6, all of them have been fiddly and difficult to build (the Allen key is a waste of time) and at least 2 of the chairs I have had to resort to using my screws to fit together as the build quality was poor and the supplied screws didnt work! I strongly recommend not buying these chairs if you are not prepared to put significant work in getting them built

I bought four chairs (two packs) and they were easy to assemble and quite comfortable. On a quality control note TWO of the chairs had metal protruding from on of the back feet which I failed to notice and have now got to repair my new dining room floor as it was deeply scratched straight away. have since ground the metal down as could not remove and felt padded all the chair feet. Despite this they are fairly sturdy and do not rock.

Solid, decent chairs, we asked for 2 and most unfortunately 1 of them was chipped with the surface layer of wood chipped. This was as we opened up the package so this was as we obtained it. I really couldn't be bothered to return it back and then have to wait further for correspondence, etc, so we kept it and put them together. That said, they are good solid decent chairs and we keep them in the kitchen around our table we bought from the same seller and from the same website. With some degree of care and applied gentleness they should outlast + survive us. We are pleased them.
