The whole Bob Marley best of thing can be confusing to new comers who dont know the story ,basically The Wailers appeared in the early 60s as a ska band ,by the late 60s they changed the name to Bob Marley And The Wailers, the tempo was slowed down to a reggae beat where they done what many die hard fans myself included to be thier best stuff ,this collection is from that period .....With Lee Perry at the helm these songs just cook... favs include Soul Rebel,Small Axe,Sun Is Shining,,Duppy Conqueror the list goes on this to me is the reggae bible .unfortunately These songs were sold on to a pirate record company in the early 70s by Lee Perry hence there are so many different compilations with pictures of the great man Bob Marley which dont even match the period in which they were recorded but the music inside is timeless ....just dont mention the sound quality thats the way it was supposed to be ....In 1973 Bob And The Wailers signed to Island records where he re recorded many of these songs throughout the 70s ,,,Bob became a global superstar and rest is history

What a lovely collection - these recordings are lifted from the earlier part of his career and contains material which is far closer to his reggae roots than the later, far more polished (but no less special) recordings.Whosoever compiled this budget collection has come up with a strong, balanced and very listenable selection of songs which well represent this innovative/formative era.It should be said though that the 40 songs featured are available on a multitude of other compilations too.

It is wonderful to say the least. I am really enjoying listening to gold collection, it says what is written on the tin. I am loving it, please get one! I have recommended it to all Bob Marley' fans out there. I bought second hand but it is in very good condition. Thank you very much, seller.

This is not a "Gold" collection, no top hits. Very disappointed. Granted I should have allowed more time to check. Will try to have to returned.
