Review: Philips is still the best brand and app - Yes, the Philips products are pricier but the app has a simple and beautiful interface, the lights connect easily, and it doesn't bombard you with ads try to get you to go on a message board for light nerds. I have a Govee TV light and it's cheaper but the interface felt like I was customizing a MySpace application or website builder. I ended up returning that and spending a couple more bucks for the Hub when it was on sale on Prime Day. The Philips has more than anyone needs of really good presets (are designed attractively) and update often. Now I have a total of four lights. The Hub works with Matter, they seamlessly turn on and off with my Google minis. Unfortunately the only way to connect the superior Phillips lights with Google Home now is via the hub. In order to get this to work with Google that was the only way, and which is why I initially opted for the cheaper Govees. Anyway, having the four connected hue bulbs beats any of these other brands. The transitions between colors, or even turning on and off, seem smooth versus abrupt and clunky like the TP- bulbs (which I also returned). You can't go wrong with Philips. Ultimately you get what you pay for.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can i still use my normal light switch?**
A: Yes, and no.  You can still use the normal light switch to turn the bulb on and off.  However, when you have the light switch off there is no power to the bulb and therefore it cannot be turned on with the Hue button (or any other device).  Also, you can set the 'power-on behavior'.  If you set the power-on behavior to on, then you turn off the light switch and on the switch the bulb will go to the power-on behavior.  So if the bulb is off and the Hue button is too far away, you can turn the switch off and then on and the bulb will come on.

**Q: Are these bulbs dimmable?  Can you change the kelvin temperature, so make them look more yellow or white as needed?**
A: They removed the ability to change the temperature of the lights. As of Jan 2022 the white bulbs I have (that used to change temperature) are just a bland yellow. The app is only good to make the fairly dim light even dimmer.

**Q: The photos show these are the 75w equivalent bulbs, but the product description says it's the 60w bulbs. Which bulbs are actually in kit?.**
A: The bulbs are actually only 10.5 watts but 75w equivalent.

I've tried the lesser expensive brand of bulbs (broke college kid), and you can absolutely feel and see the difference. I am no longer a broke college kid, and wanted to level up my bed room and livingroom. It was very expensive but these function wonderfully and I have had ZERO connection issues so far. They fit in all of my sockets and I can control them with a Google or an Alexa device!! They range from super bright all the way to extremely dim. I would 1000% spend the extra money and get these over all of the other brands!!
