E1200 Sim Free Smartphone - Black

I ordered this to use as a work phone as every time I break down I have quite a job to find numbers in my touch phone. It's very small, slim & light,fits nicely in my hand & neatly in any pocket. The buttons are clear, those with large fingers may find them too small. Mine arrived set in German & I had quite a job to find the language setting. To save others time you press the top left hand menu button, if you keep getting a message come up, it's telling you the key pad is locked, press the bottom left hand button & hold until it unlocks. You then get picture options, the wheel, bottom right is the settings button. In the menu scroll down to number four, press OK then number one is your language option. My only complaint is that Amazon do not state before you buy that it is coming all the way from Germany, they gave it 23 days to arrive, it came in 16 but its a long time to wait when you may be in a hurry & could look else where. They did include a three pin adapter for the charger & instructions came both in German & English.

Purchased to replace my wife's 9-year-old Nokia which had suddenly decided to 'lock-up' repeatedly, this little Samsung has found favour. My wife is not a 'power user' and simply requires straightforward device which - wait for it - just makes 'phone calls. She is not interested in being in constant connection with the rest of the planet's population (doesn't even bother much with 'texting') but she likes the bright, clear display and keypad. The functionality is fine and the battery life good, but it lost a star for the rather flimsy back panel which comes adrift rather too easily, and also for the fiddly placement and access to the charger/comms port. And why does it need such a large connector? - twice the length of the Samsung Galaxy range! Update - after about 9 months use, the device failed - it would frequently display "SIM Refreshing", wipe any text being entered (annoying!!) and flatten its own battery. It has been binned, so a complete waste of money. Rating reduced to zero stars!

Having been very frustrated with a very high tech, all singing, all dancing (apparently) high end touch screen contract phone, I decided to go back to the tried and tested, simple, call and text phone. I just want to make calls and text messages with a phone. I don't want to use it as a camera, I don't want to carry my entire music and video collection around with me. I don't want to watch funny cat clips on Youtube on the way to work, or be forced to carry my charger around with me all day. I just want a phone that has plenty of battery power left even in a few days time, and is easy to operate in strong sunshine, without having to guess where the dialing "buttons" are on a touch screen. It ticks all of my boxes, and represents good value for money. If you want a plain simple phone to make calls and send texts, then this is great value.

Started ok, now just over a year on I'm having issues. Phone turns itself off on occasion when trying to send a message and now keeps losing network connection so can't send or receive anything but don't realise this until I check the screen and notice the connection symbol missing. Very frustrating and need to manually go into network settings and reset it to get a signal again. Not any use when my wife is expecting a child and may need to get hold of me at some point! Will have to get another phone as I can't trust this one to work when I need it now.

Simple but effective phone. Easy to use. Very long battery life ( 1 week plus on standby.). No whistles and bells. Perfect spare or emergency phone. That's about it.

Ordered 3 of these for travel purposes. Takes standard-sized SIM (and is not locked to any one network), sound quality is good, it's easy to use, it makes phone calls and takes and makes texts, very light, and has excellent battery life. The only downside is that it does not have the new universal mini-usb charging socket, so needs its own dedicated mains charger (supplied). If you normally charge from a USB socket the data lead is not supplied and it can be hard to find but I got one elsewhere on Amazon (specify E1200 Samsung mobile charger USB lead and double-check on the photo that it is the wider fitting) - unfortunately it was a little more expensive than I expected but given the airlines' new policy of testing that phones will switch on, I wanted to be able to keep my 3 phones topped up by USB lead from a portable battery unit that I carry. I saw some criticisms that it is hard to get the back on and off for the battery and SIM, but I don't understand that:- just stick a thumbnail or fingernail into the tiny slot at the lower end and prise it off, then clip it back in when you're finished. I bought this phone recently after on older one finally gave up the ghost. I'm very pleased with it and can't really pick any faults with it. It can: Text, make and receive phone calls, wake me up in the morning, add and subtract, remember quite a few phone numbers, and even time things. The most useful feature that isn't present even on the iPhone 5 is that the battery easily lasts for several days, even while using it for a couple of hours a day. If you don't use it very often, then it should easily last a week, if not a little bit more. My girlfriend has a fancy smartphone (the little Samsung Galaxy), which she got at the same time as this phone, and the battery on it doesn't even last a day. Also, I have a tendency to drop phones and this is rugged and tough. What more would you want from a phone? If all you do is text and phone, then this is the phone for you. p.s. There's even a game if you're bored.

Bon téléphone, acheté pour une personne... d'un certain âge :-) en raison de la simplicité d'utilisation. Pas de difficultés (sauf changer la langue au début, pour cela cherchez une vidéo explicative en tapant par exemple : " CHANGE THE LANGUAGE E1200" sur hébergeur de vidéos genre youtube) La durée de la batterie est bonne. Le chargeur est fourni. Parfait ! Enjoy !

I wanted to buy a basic model phone with JUST calling feature & no show-shaw. And that was for my mom and I found this wonderful piece. I used to prefer Nokia for basic model phones, as they are robust in nature and did purchase Nokia 220 earlier for my grandmother. The phone was good enough but the voice clarity was not up to the mark having spent 2500/- :( So I did more research this time and found this "little" black beauty ! Its sooo small and lightweight that it feels like there is no battery in it. But it is lighter even with battery (removable) in it. The call clarity is CRYSTAL clear ! And moreover, the phone keypad has back-light, that makes numbers/alphabets on it to glow in dark (see image attached). This feature really helps to make calls even during dark without any difficulty. An alarm is another feature, that I wanted so that I can set reminders for my mom to take her medicines on time :) (this basic function is anyway available in all mobiles these days). And most importantly guyz, the 'Quick call feature' is very much useful. Excluding #1, you can assign one phone number per digit starting from #2 to #9 on this mobile. So, when a specific digit is long pressed, an outgoing call gets initiated to the phone number which you assign to that particular digit (so there is no need to type the number or go through phone book to search for contact) This is helpful for frequently used phone number like family members contacts. Built-in torch is a bonus but don't expect much from it, its brighter not brightest, after all no phone is 100% perfect and this one is nearly 100% perfect. Overall, if you are looking for a phone with just calling and messaging features and NO MP3, Radio,dual sim etc, then go for this before it goes out of stock.

The phone is very helpful for me. It is small, very compact, and easy to use, and is very affordable. Because it is small, I can carry it anywhere without hassle, and is very compact. If you are into calling or texting, you can readily use it. It can store up 500 text messages. The Samsung original battery is also very high quality. I can use the phone 1 – 2 weeks without charging when used normally, compare to smartphones that needs charging on a daily basis. Also, you don’t need to worry when it needs charging already since it also has notification when it is already low in battery, mine buzzes when it is battery low. Plus, it charges fast. 2 – 3 hours will do. I have experienced that the phone accidentally dropped to the floor or hard areas, not just once, but many times already, which I think is 2 meters high, for which the battery literally separated away from the phone. But the phone is still working good, even the screen didn’t broke down. It is a good spare phone you needed for texting and calling. You don’t need to worry about phone snatchers when you are outside your home or on the road and you are calling or texting somebody, since it is very small, and of course, not attention seeker. The snatchers would rather snatch your smartphones, rather than this phone. Their effort are not “sulit” if they would snatch this phone. '
