Good layout of an old book
This book was actually published originally in 1901 (no sign of the *original* publication date in this version) and at the time of writing this review, it is available as a free download in the Kindle store (Nero, Makers of History Series). But, the Makers of History series is really carelessly formatted and difficult to read and concentrate on, with the paragraphs lumped together without proper spacing, and with chapter headings squeezed in unattractively. A bit of a mess, basically. This version I'm reviewing is exactly the same book, but with a much better layout, with linking chapter headings and good spacing between paragraphs, making for a much more enjoyable read. The writing is excellent and keeps you interested in the subject throughout the book. Well worth the pennies I paid for it, even if only for the proper formatting. Recommended.

Deceptive cover & listing
An obvious attempt to mislead customers by replicating the cover of a Penguin Black Classic for what appears to be a self-published (and not Penguin Classic quality) title. Was beyond disappointed to open the package and find a cover that looked like it was photocopied & enlarged cover, to the point that even the author's name was blurry.Would not recommend you purchase this when there are other, better titles out there for the same price.

Nero-thinking different
This book was Okay. A lot of people assume the worst of Nero from former writings through time. But was he really that bad? I think not so much. I think we need to revisit Nero and the reason most hated him( Christians) and that he was also a pawn in a bigger picture.

Good History. Print very small.
If you like history, and need to learn about Nero, read this book. The downside is the print was quite small, but I managed to read it without glasses. Others might find it difficult. The story of the Julian-Claudian line of Roman rulers needs to be read from start to finish. Begin with Augustus and end with Nero. It is quite a ride.Spoiler: After Nero was killed, they were all dead. An amazing story.

Informative with one caveat
I learned a lot. Despicable man from a long line of despicable family. Kind of dry which having read a ton of nonfiction I know is unnecessary. Also had glaring omissions as it pertains to Nero's well known persecution of Christian's. Not sure why the author completely left that out.
