Perfect for learning chords and transitions on the go without hauling your guitar around.
The good: It's a useful, portable tool to learn and practice chords and transitions. The bad: Strings can only be so tight. A couple feel close to the real thing but the rest remain too loose for a close enough feel. Strumming is out of the question, as you won't be able to tell if your fingers are positioned correctly for smooth sound. The ugly: At least for me, personally, I found it is fairly easy to avoid proper technique while practicing my chords and chord transitions, since it's only the first five frets of the fret board and no head. I have to be more conscious about my wrist, hand, and thumb positioning.Bottom line: Despite its flaws, it does exactly what I expected it to do. If all you're looking for is a portable tool to assist with learning your chords and practicing your transitions, this is definitely worth the purchase. Just don't expect it to be a full fledged "portable guitar."

Practice finger placement, not for playing.
Pros:Does what it says it'll do (You can practice finger placement)Small form factor (Easy to pack around)Real wood fret boardCons:Difficult to tune (near impossible; but really, it's for finger placement practice, not playing)Flexes when you press a string, making the others change pitch (again, it's not for playing, it's for finger placement practice)Strings are close together (difficult for adult sized fingers to not hot other strings - but it's not for playing, it's for practicing :) ).Difficult to hold, and strum, and practice finger placement (Where you strum is just plastic, no stings, you're really just practicing finger placement, timing, and rhythm technique with this)I'm giving mine to my son who plays guitar occasionally. He will probably enjoy tinkering around on it between classes.

Too nerrow, string too close to each other
Too nerrow, string too close to each other, it is not good for beginers who want's to learn how to press string. However it is a good chance to feel how strings feels.Note: don't try to tune it, the shorten string length is against physics, will never work as a real one.If you have space in your home, spend the money to buy a cheap real one, this thing is for travelers only.I can't have a big real one, but want to feel the strings, that's why I bought this.

Good idea and awesome value
I think this is very cool. I wanted something like this years ago when I had a telemarketing job and was sitting on the phone dialing all day - this would’ve been perfect. I’m getting ready to go on a very lengthy trip on an airplane and I figured it would be great to keep my licks up while I’m on the plane. I took a picture of this neck next to my Les Paul and also my acoustic - and it looks like the fret spacing is more in line with an acoustic guitar. Which is fine because the frets are spaced apart a little bit more and that will provide me with even more finger stretching and exercises. Some of the strings are unable to be tightened - can’t really get much Tuning out of them - but it’s more for practicing scales and transitions and that’s really what I want to spend the most time on. Good call and great price!!

He loves it
Bought this for my boyfriend because I’m teaching him guitar and he doesn’t have his own to practice on. It’s really helping me to teach him.The only complaint I have is that it was really dirty when it arrived and my boyfriend has OCD so it had to be cleaned A LOT before he was able to use it.Other than that it’s a perfect tool to practice chords.

Really small
It will do but the spacing between the strings is really small. Maybe it was intended for smaller hands or younger players. My son may eventually use it. I liked the idea anyway.

Every now and then I do something really stupid. Buying this thing was one of those moments
Every now and then I do something really stupid. Buying this thing was one of those moments.I does fit in a backpack so you can carry it on an airplane like they say it will, so it gets one star. Unfortunately you cannot open a window of an airplane at 30,000 feet and throw it out of the plane. I put it in the toy box as a reminder never to do this again and let my 3 year old grandson play with it and hopefully break it.This will not help you learn how to play a guitar or get you even close to doing anything correctly on a fret board. You will need a real guitar to do that.

Decent tool for the price
If you're using it to get your fingers use to chord shapes it's perfect.
