Description

This is a piece I designed for a child or adult male or female. It is made with Ram horn, Copper beads and glass crow beads with the addition of a Coyote claw as the center of this piece. I obtained this claw from my father, he has given me many of these claws from coyotes he has killed back home on our property on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina. In recent years the coyote population has exploded in the Qualla Boundary (Cherokee) so it has been highly encouraged to hunt or kill these coyotes if seen, for the fact that they are preventing the deer population from growing to it's full potential. When either animal is overpopulated it throws both out of balance which results inevitably in starvation and suffering for the overgrown population. The overpopulation of course has effects on resources which other animals depend on and creates a chain reaction. Coyotes generally do not prey on elk because they are much larger than deer but the do often prey on small and or wounded deer. This piece combines two elements of nature the being the Ram horn and the coyote claw. All my worked is legitimately American Indian handcrafted. Wado udohiyu utsati.
