"Wet is a kiss that touches you"
The title of this review is from the opening song, "Wet". Streisand's choice of songs for this 41-minute long album from 1979 all have a link with water, whether it's the rain, tears, or even Niagara Falls. Most of the songs have the standard superb orchestration, marvellous arrangements, and - with what is a thankfully a standard feature of Streisand's singing - readily understandable lyrics. Two of the songs are written by Streisand's usual husband-and-wife songwriting team Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and "Niagara" is written by Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager. Excellent lyrics include: "You hold my hand to please my friends, but when they leave, the music stops, the love-song ends".It's not all ballads though. "Come Rain or Come Shine" is good west-coast AOR, and "I Ain't Gonna Cry Tonight" has a fast beat, although the lyrics are a bit naff. The only disappointing song is the one track without an orchestra, the rocker "Splish Splash" with sax solo. The track that most listeners will be most familiar with is the disco duet with Donna Summer, "No More Tears (Enough is Enough)", here presented in its eight-minute format. Donna Summer sure has the power in her voice to match Streisand, but does she have the strength of subtlety? Apparently it was Streisand's then twelve-year-old son who persuaded his mother to do the duet and the opening lines "It's raining, it's pouring" had to be inserted to maintain the `Wet' feel. For me, this is one of Streisand's best albums with enough contrast to make each track interesting to a greater or lesser degree. The best track? Well, probably "Kiss Me in the Rain", although the title track is also a favourite. And "Wet is a kiss that" touched me.

loved all her films
Brings back memories of my child hood that I would listen to her, loved all her films, though I was disappointed with her O2 concerte, I went to see her and not the other artist, she was just a speck and to pay ticket money for a speck was just disappointing, would have loved to hear her doing Guilty and other more popular Barbra especially duets and songs on this album.

Highly Recommended..!
I bought this when it was first released on vinyl and cassette...! I have been searching for a CD for a while and was so pleased when I found it as a download on Amazon. This album brings back so many happy memories of when I was a student - her voice is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who is a Streisand fan (and even if they are not).

Loved the 12" version of Enough is Enough, and the beautiful ballad 'After the Rain'. Plus you get 'Kiss me in the Rain' and 'Wet' which many will know from the Love Songs album. Not essential, but if you're a fan then simply a must-have.
