Grodan Gro-Smart Tray Insert

These are hands down the best cloning trays out! Yes they cost more than the cheap flimsy ones but this will last sooooo much longer. 10/10 all around. The durability, sturdiness, quality and overall design is seriously unparalleled. If you have been thinking of getting one do it! Being able to see if you cut has rooted without having to pry it out of the typical flimsy insert is a game changer and will rival my results with the oxy cloner.

I should have gotten this tray about 5 years ago. I was convinced it wasn't worth it given the price. I was convinced other, DIY alternatives were equally as good. Nope. This thing is great. If you are using Rapid Rooters, Root Riots,or A-OK 1.5" Rockwool cubes, just order this now. The plastic cells and their walls hold a nice layer of humidity and darkness around the -- in my case -- rapid rooters. This results in much fuller rooting than if you were to DIY and just use a rapid rooter upside down on a tray with a bit of water, or upside down on a self irrigated seed tray using perlite to wick. Also, by keeping the plug raised from the water, the plug is kept at its appropriate water saturation level longer, especially if humidity is appropriately controlled and maintained. This lets you easily see if you need to add more water or not, keeps your 1020 trays cleaner, and expedites your germination or propagation. I bought the A-OK 1.5" rockwool plugs specially to use with this tray and was glad I did. While not necessary -- the tray works great with rapid rooters as mentioned, jiffy peat pellets, and various other grodan products -- the tray was pretty much designed for them. I wanted plugs that would fit snug in the cell to have roots grow down instead of being air pruned. This tray allowed for that. Durable and easy to clean, this tray will last me a long time. Highly recommend this product and will likely be ordering a couple more.

I am using this for pepper seedlings I placed in rapid rooters and it is working very well so far. It arrived well packed without damage and should last many years. I just have to stockpile 0/20 trays for future use as it will easily outlast the normal tray sold in gardening departments. I am looking for a reasonably priced tray to go along with this one and plan on buying another one of these next year..

After reading some reviews and watching some Youtube videos about that product I had to try it for my nursery. So far I'm really pleased by it ! The product is really well made and really strong. You can fit up to 1.5 inch rockwool cubes inside ( you'll have to slightly force them in for the 1.5 ). I would definitely recommend this product to anyone wanting a strong root system !

Nice product, that I’m adding to existing gro-smart trays. Damaged in shipping, however with a broken corner. I’ll just go ahead and use it anyway. These are handy for hydroponic starter trays

Rarely do I give 5 stars without hesitation, but this product is incredible. It's hard to be too impressed by a plastic tray, but this thing is the king of plastic trays. It's so popular for good reason. You could drop it off a building and then run over it with a truck and it would be good as new (figuratively speaking of course.) I think everyone who is starting seedlings should have one of these, regardless if you are using grodan cubes. You can use rapid rooters, pack your own, place regular drain pots, really any type of medium, even larger than 1.5" if you flip the tray over and use the underside which is divided into larger sections. It's a pricey piece of plastic, but it will last forever and in the long run will save you money and time from having to replace cheap crappy trays over and over. Just get one.

Accessibility to the plants

Great product and a must for anyone use rock wool cubes for a growing medium for seedlings or clones. If you get tired of your plants tipping over before transplanting to a larger cube or dirt this will eliminate that worry forever. I had 86 tomato plants in this tray for over a month and the all grew like champs. Some crowded others out and roots grew into other cubes but about 80 made it to the transplant and are still going strong with hundreds of tomatoes on them now as long as winter doesn't get them
