I bought this as I used to read Choose Your Own Adventure books when I was young and loved the number of twists and turns they gave you. My seven year old son enjoyed this updated version. Only slight downside is you can read a number of pages without having to make choices which means ultimately on a few different combinations of plot. Good fun though especially for reluctant readers.

great little books for reluctant readers

i remember these books as a kid and had looked for them for a while. The story is good, you get a reasonable number of choices and the endings are quite varied. BUT it is quite scary and as a mum of 3 relatively unshakable kids I would advise against this for bedtime stories for more delicate children. I was quite surprised by some of the endings and although I quite like the change from twee fairytales it won't suit everyone

Bought this for my daughter who is not a very keen reader. She tried a few options of the book to have different ending and ended up just reading the options available at the end of the chapter rather than the story itself again. Good idea to encourage children to read. But after a few reads, the pages start to get loose / unglued.

for grandaughter Annabelle been buying them since she borrowed one from library very good for imagination . If you know where i can get the one called sea monsters from i would be grateful as she really wanted this one and i did order one but had to have my money back they sold out / Thank you if you can help me .Would recommend to a friend

Fun to read together or on their own

I love the Choose your own Adventure stories and wanted to get one for my son. I think there is one happy ending - all the rest involved abandonment and slavery (the latter in a really flippant way) and I left me feeling a bit like Britain needs to readdress it's colonial history which is not usually the feeling I have after reading kid's book.. for example, Nadia Shireen's Bumblebear or JD's Gruffalo even tho both are clearly allegories.I haven't read the others but this was weird. Nice illustrations tho...

A great book for the reluctant reader. Using these books has actually made my grandson enjoy reading
