I have a spot under a roof where birds have been nesting every spring. I have been wanting to try the owl trick and I bought this item. My bird of the year had begun building a nest a few days before the owl arrived. I placed the owl on a table in the pole barn entry and the bird continued to bring nesting materials. There may be some optimization to where the owl should go but I didn't have time to tune it. I stapled up streamers of the reflective tape and voila, no more bird. I'll work with the owl some more and give it a spot. If nothing else it's a nice decor item.I'm glad somebody mentioned that the switch is on the bottom making it a problem if you just screw it down. That hadn't occurred to me. Maybe I'll make an opening in the permanent perch shelf. The solar panel is on the back of the head. I have yet to see how well it works in a sheltered location.Mine arrived new in it's carton inside an shipping carton.Mine does not make a hooting sound at all. I think it says "hello". I went out to check but it does not respond in the dark. The motion sensor looks like a light sensitive device.

I just put the owl out on my deck hoping to scare away the squirrels. They have been chewing on the corners of my house. So far I think it is working. More time will tell. The one thing that I think could be done different is the on/off switch is on the bottom and when you screw the bird down you cannot access the switch. You definitely need to screw or tie it down due to it being very light weight and blows over easily. I will update the review after a longer period of time.

I am sorry I have to be honest. This owl did nothing for the birds or rabbits. I looked outside and had about 25 little blue birds eating away at my grass seed, unbothered by this owl. Also the hooting was rather annoying, and would go off when nothing was around. On the plus side the free reflective tape was was somewhat effective! Sorry, its a nice effort but a NO from me. I'm glad it has worked out for others (as noted by the reviews).

Bird showed up took it outa box looked ok until i looked at bottom, had rusted parts looked like been used or outside in rain, left it in the sun all day and it just faintly makes a wierd sound and eyes barely glow, im sure this was resold or just a real bad deal im gonna call amazon to see ehat can be done. I was so discusted it went in the firepit! Thank haven homes

This was exactly what I needed to deal with my bird situation. The owl is very realistic and the sound and flashing eyes definitely seem to work.I would recommend this product for anyone having a pest issue in their yard.

Loved this product as I used both the Owl with the bird repellent tape that came with the Owl, and it worked really well together. Helped get rid of my annoying pest situation. This bird repellent tape and Owl combination is a great combo and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to sort out their back yard bird issues.

This Owl doesn’t work, it makes no sound as advertised it only blinks, could have bought one for half the cost that does that. They said I can return it by printing a return label when I go to orders however there’s nothing there to print,and the box is gone. Don’t waste your money on this one.
