This book brings to life Siamese, Persians, lions, tigers, panthers and such celebrity felines as Felix, Top Cat and Snaggle Puss. Review: If you like to draw cats.... - ...you'll love this book! I bought this after seeing it in an online post by another artist. It gives step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow. There's a great selection of different breeds, wild & domestic cats, famous cats & kittens. The foreword contains a number of helpful hints & suggestions for improving your drawing skills...& of course, it's practice, practice, practice! The author started his career at Walt Disney Studios & taught art in several colleges; he brings some of those lessons here. A real bonus! Review: Package arrived in good condition and on time - Package arrived in good condition and on time. I think my faverite part about this book is that it actually looks like it was hand drawn. Not a lot of books out there like this due to photo shop. I have nothing agianst photoshop but it is very unique to books like this. The second part that I liked about it was how it is focussed on how the charaters are drawn. All 50 cats are very well thought out and it is easy to see how the artist came to the final piece in each sketch. This teaches you how to sketch cats its not a book with art that is there to look at. The point of drawing is knowing how to go from a sketch to a finished piece of art that actually looks believable. Your not going to learn anything unless you go through the steps and see what your drawing in many shapes not just a pretty blob with hair. Thew two things I did not like about it is that it would have been nice to see how to shade using hatching and cross hatching. Secone it would be nice to see the artists opinion on possable ways to display facial epression. Then agian I am a cartoon and fantasy artist so this may be just something that does not apply to this book due to the type of art it teaches. Over all five out of five for me.

Great present for cat & drawing lovers
It was a present but such a HUGE sucess! I saw the results of the drawings and the book is easy enough to use, quite a lot of variety in the animals shapes and styles. Girls 13 years old stayed occupied for hours!

Students love drawing!
I used this both as an art teacher and as a reading teacher. Boys and girls love to draw animals. In art, they need to really see and notice detail, and they have to persevere until they get it right. In reading, they have to do the art skills, and follow directions. Since it's non-fiction, it fits in with today's education trends. Kids love to draw whether they're in art class or reading class, and how special is it to be able to use this as a reading teacher? Your students will love you.

For beginners & artists alike!
A beautifully and sensibly presented set of instructive illustrations for drawing cats and kittens. Lee J Ames is an absolute master of the art of capturing the anatomy and character of cats. He covers cats and kittens both wild and domestic. This book works for both children and adults and is perfect for beginners and the more experienced artist alike.

Makes drawing easy!
I purchased this book on a whim (loving cats) and I'm hooked! Drawing cats has become so easy with these step by step guides (the author not only makes it look easy, but actually be easy). It truly brings out the artist in me. I would definately recommend any of the books in this series to anyone wishing to improve their drawing skills.
