Zigi’s antics opened up an entire conversation with the kids about what is “right” and “wrong”. Zigi’s loves stinky socks so he takes them from earthlings without asking. For each sock he takes, Zigi leaves behind valuable moon rocks. My children and talked about whether it was right to take someone’s belongings without asking, even if we are leaving something in it’s place.The kids and I also chatted about how “One man’s trash, is another man’s treasure”. Here on earth, most of us don’t find much value in stinky socks yet to Zigi they are something to be treasured. We discussed how we can recycle our unwanted items so that someone else (or even ourselves) and enjoy them.The illustrations are are wonderful. Zigi is easily identifiable from his other stories. The colours are bright and will appeal to most children.“Zigi the Alien and the Stinky Socks!” is a fun story to read with your kids. The author has created a wonderful story explaining the mystery of why our socks go missing! I had a bit of difficulty deciding on a rating for this book. The plot is quite imaginative; I really do like that. An alien named Zigi who lives on the planet Nepi, frequently visits Earth because he has a fascination with stinky socks. The inhabitants of Nepi do not wear socks or shoes. So Zigi, goes to apartment buildings, beaches, the mall, and a kindergarten playground, among other places to seek his treasures.Zigi does not steal; he removes one sock and leaves moon rocks from his planet in exchange. But Zigi does not ask permission, and he does not explain how his victims fare the rest of the day with only one sock. Zigi also sees sunburn as magic because his skin goes back to normal once he is out of the sun. Parents and teachers will need to explain to young children, that it is wrong to take things without asking and that staying in the sun for long periods of time can be harmful for human children.On the other hand, the illustrations are easy for young children to follow and they will love the off beat humor. There are a few formatting issues: text and picture are not on the same page, and the size of the text changes on a few of the pages. Recommend the book for parents of preschoolers and young children who are careless about taking care of their belongings, and children who are intrigued with the concept of aliens from outer space.

I am in fourth grade and I think this book was sooo cute and funny. The pictures of Zigi are so super cute! And me and my little brother really enjoyed the free gift which was finding the 10 differences in the pictures.I think it’s funny that Zigi and his friends liked to play with socks like toys and that Zigi’s favorite socks are Stinky socks. =) Zigi is from a planet called Nepi and there is no socks or shoes or beaches or seas there. Zigi visits earth and collects all sorts of socks for him & his friends to play with and the stinkiest one is his all time favorite.The weird thing is my little brother lost a whole lot of socks this month so maybe Zigi came to our house! My brother has all these socks but not many pairs which is so weird. Mommy did find some more of them and we learnt in this book that it’s a good idea to pick them up if your aren’t wearing them. Maybe my little brother wouldn’t have so many missing socks if we read this book sooner and hope he won’t lose his new ones when he gets them. I am so lucky I haven’t lost any of my yet. :)

The moment my son heard that this is a story about alien he was very excited! and he likes this funny book very much! wants me to read it every night...

My grandson loves Ziggy and leaves his socks on the floor in the hope that Ziggy will visit him!😉

Stinky socks are not attractive, even for kids… but not so to Zigi the Alien.Who would have thought that with stinky stocks you can raise the subject of what-is-not-liked-by-you-can-be-liked-and-beneficial-for-someone-else, to discuss with your child.A funny story that your children will truly like.
