Perfect for me! (Not for everyone.)
I love cold drinks with lots of ice, but I live in an area prone to tropical storms and flooding where "boil water" notices are frequent. So connecting an ice maker to a tap water source is ill-advised. Consequently, I was buying bags of ice at the store every week. With this unit I can use bottled water and make all the ice I want. It has been reliable so far, and has already paid for itself.I really like the bullet-shaped cubes. They melt slowly enough to keep drinks cold, yet crush more easily than large cubes or crescents when used in a blender.Although it wasn't a major factor in my purchase, I plugged the unit into an ECOFLOW portable power station and solar panel just to see how it functioned. It pulled 1.8 amps when making ice, and worked the same as it did on regular house current, confirming that I could use that setup to make ice while camping or during a power outage.Note: This is not a "set it and forget it" commercial ice maker. You fill the well with water, it makes 9 cubes about every six minutes, and dumps them into a basket (and yes, that makes some noise, of course). That basket is in an insulated compartment, but it's not refrigerated, so if you leave the ice in it as shown in the product photos, it will eventually start to melt (the water drips back into the well). With that in mind, I usually make ice while I'm a watching a game on TV or something, so I can get up and dump each batch of ice into a container in my kitchen freezer before it starts to melt (and refill the 1.2L water well if needed). After three or four hours, I have enough ice (10+ pounds) for the week. This unit was priced considerably lower when I bought it. I'm not sure I would have purchased it for the current $75 (lots of similar choices for less), but I'm glad I have it.

Not all ice is equal
This product has been great to use and solves the small-scale ice problemThere is a lot of attention to detail in the design and performance that work well. For instance, the electronic sensors eliminate the mechanical ice sensor that would be prone to breakage or just being in the way. The upright footprint works well fitting under cabinets wile minimizing counter spaceSome caveats from my experience.1 the first ice is ice, but not super cold ice — if you put it in a room temp drink it melts quickly. I recommend letting it run to let the first ice cool the chamber. I often put cold water in it give some cooling to the chamber2 even the large cubes are small and hollow. That means high surface area which is both an advantage and disadvantage3 note that this device isn’t really going to supply a group with ice. It’s great for two.4 it does put some warm air (it must to work). So, put it on the covered porch if that is a problem5 I find it perfect for the RV. I crank it up first thing and ice is ready just about when I am! Nothing like ice in your drink when it’s hot out. Or for a margarita!6 it is (obviously) sensitive to ambient temp. It produces much more ice it’s cool and the water you add is cool.7 many of these ice makers look basically identical, perhaps from the same factory. Whatever, I really like it and have used it continuously without any problems

Makes ice fast and isn't too loud
Easy to use, makes ice fast and isn't too loud. We transfer the ice to our broken ice maker in our refrigerator and the ice comes through the dispenser perfectly - and we only have to make ice every couple days to refill our ice bin in the fridge. The only downside is the process to drain the water but this is a necessary step with any countertop ice maker to avoid mold.

PERFECT for 2 People - 5 Months of constant use so far
I love the convenience of always having ice without opening the freezer! It's been running continuously for the past 10 months, except for the monthly wipe down. This machine is great!Ever use a refrigerator icemaker and you get those semi-circular ice pieces that form a dam in your glass and cause the drink to spill all over your chest and floor? No worries with this amazing icemaker! The ICE comes out in hollo cylinders that chill your drink but don't impede the flow of liquid in any way!!!It comes with a very convenient scoop that stays on the icemaker so you never contaminate your ice when filling a glass. It has a low water sensor, but is very easy to keep filled and you just have to turn it off and back on after filling. As the ice melts, it refills the reservoir, then is pumped back into the machine to make more ice. After the bin is full, it stops dispensing ice until that top layer is removed. It produces a new batch of ice every 6-8 minutes and fills the bin in less than 30 minutes. There is a choice between small and large, but the small seems to melt a lot faster so I keep it on large.I can fill 2 16 oz glasses with ice from a full bin.I use Zero filtered water like distilled water, so there is no concern about scale or need for anything more than the occasional cleaningSetup was super easy, and I have it right next to the filtered water pitcher to make filling easierIt's on the island in the kitchen on the far end away from the stove. Now for the less desirable things... it's very noisy. A lot of reviews mention it being too noisy. After growing up with a grandfather clock, I got adjusted to the icemaker noise quickly and it doesn't bother me. A small price to pay for the wonderful convenience of always having fresh ice. It may not be for people that like a quiet house. If the power goes out, the machine will stay off and you have to turn it back on to keep making ice. It's ideal for 2 people and we've never run out of ice; however we had some visitors and it could not keep up with 5 people. We had to use ice from the freezer to keep up with the demand.I love this icemaker and highly recommend it! I'm sorry that some others haven't had good luck with it.I don't know how long it will last, but for the price, even if it quit today after 5 months I would just buy another one because it is so easy and convenient!

Great Buy - you will be pleased
I am so pleased with the ice maker. I had previously purchased an expensive model at Costco and it lasted only 2 years. This new model with the larger capacity is ideal. I keep it running 24 hours and have used the self clean mode and works perfect!!
