Williams-Sonoma Collection: Mexican

Great cook book, bought used in perfect “good” condition; collecting the series.

I'm a real Mexican with a REAL sensibility of how authentic Mexican food is supposed to taste, and I must say the recipes in this book are great!!! It's one of my favorite Mexican food cookbooks!Some of the recipes I've tried are the following:-Mole Poblano (from scratch)-Coffee and Kahlúa Flan (my favorite desert now thanks to this book)-Chocolate Cake with a hint of Chile Ancho-Stuffed Poblano Chiles with Walnut Sauce-Chicken Enchiladas With Salsa Roja-Pork Chops Marinated in Adobo Sauce-Mandarin Mousse-Watercress Salad with Jicama, Orange and AvocadoWhat I love about this book is that it teaches the American reader/cook that Mexican food is much more than just burritos and tacos. It's diverse, just like each region of Mexico is very different, and this book showcases this diversity very well; it also demonstrates that Mexican dishes can be (and often are) gourmet.I also LOVE the photographs that are included with each recipe. I prefer books with pictures because it makes you want to cook that dish.The Mole Poblano recipe in this book is DELICIOUS!!! I hosted a dinner party in which I prepared this mole, and my friends were impressed with the fact that I was able to make a dish as complicated as Mole Poblano from scratch (many people don't bother to make it from scratch anymore). It's a bit labor intensive, but definitely worth it!!

I bought a bunch of these here on Amazon for a few dollars each for my daughters who expressed interest in learning how to entertain and cook for themselves and company, most of the books in the series are great for just this purpose, being a Disabled Veteran on a fixed income I really wouldn’t want to pay the full retail price and judging by the sheer abundance of used copies for next to nothing I am not the only one who didn’t.TLDR great when bought used recommended at a used price.

You have to be careful with Williams-Sonoma: they have two different series of nice hardbound books. The huge, thick ones (e.g.  Williams-Sonoma Essentials of Baking: Recipes and Techniques for Succcessful Home Baking ), and these smaller, thinner ones, also hardbound but with far fewer recipes.This is one of the thinner ones.The thinner ones can be identified -- at least on Amazon -- because they'll be part of the "William-Sonoma Collection," whereas the huge books will be titled "Essentials of . . . "

I was a little disappointed by this cookbook. It did have some good information in it but I was looking for more variety and more detail. There are plenty of recipes to try but this seems better for someone only looking to lightly dabble in Mexican cooking.

This book maybe smaller than most of them by this author, but the information and recipes are right on. Glad I ordered it, and you will too. Thank you for the fast service and great condition.

Great book. Wonderful recipes, great use of fresh ingredients, and excellent flavors. Beautifully illustrated. The recipes are clear and well-written. Servings are generous. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to go beyond the usual taco fare.

Super tolles Buch

A beautifully illustrated book in the standard you would expect from Williams - Sonoma. A slight tear in the dust cover at the back but otherwise in wonderful condition (most importantly it's nice and clean). Contains easy to follow authentic Mexican recipes.

英語ですけど難しい専門用語がたっぷりなわけでないし分かり易く丁寧にだけど本格的なレシピがいっぱい載っています。意外とメキシコ料理の本ってないんですよね・・あっても本物に近すぎていっぱいラードを使いこんでいて日本人の薄味が基本的に好きなわたしにとってはちょっと胃にもたれそう・・こちらはWilliams Sonomaが出してるだけあって万人向けにしかしセレブリティな香りを漂わせつつ入り込み易いレシピに仕上がっていると思います。

Ordered this cookbook after sampling several of the recipes at a dinner a friend prepared. Simple, straightforward recipes with great flavour.

I bought this book as I like Mexican cuisine. However, I am unable to buy certain ingredients that are required for the majority of the recipes located in this book in my local supermarkets. Thus, I have to substitute those ingredients as I am unable to find them. In the end, some of the recipes that I tried turned out to be all right but some turned out to be just awful. I know that I should not be substituting some ingredients for others but I have no choice. I also wanted to mention that I found that free online recipes turned out far better than the recipes that I made from this book.I put this book away and I do not think that I will ever touch it. This book was a total waste of money for me!
