Fit exactly as needed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I like this cane bolt a whole bunch *by on Reviewed in the United States June 18, 2025* This cane bolt is really well built and heavy duty. I used it to keep a small garden gate closed tightly against an arbor. It has performed beautifully. It looks so nice and really adds charm to the gate. (note: there are no installation instructions included)Things to know:1. Make sure to measure how deeply you want the bottom of the cane to go into the ground. We cut a small piece of ABS pipe and sunk it into the soil (to ground level) to add stability and keep the bolt in place in case of strong winds.2. Level and plumb the bracket hardware or your bolt will be crooked. Don't be tempted to eyeball it. Then mark the screw holes with a thin sharpie marker. Pre drill the holes to avoid cracking the wood.3. Make sure that the screws, that come with the latch, will not poke through the wood to the other side of your gate frame. Our gate was barely thick enough to accommodate the screws.4. I like this model, because it allows you to place the bolt cane as high or low as you need it. Other models have "notches" on the cane that restrict movement.I would not hesitate to purchase this product again.
