RGT Grade Four Ukulele Playing

I looked at several other instruction books, but chose and started using this series of course books as a complete beginner. They are easily followed & fairly well explained, a cd is included with each book so that you can hear what the subject matter sounds like. There are actually 6 books in the series, why they didn't just number them 1 to 6, is frankly beyond me. So number 4, is actually the last one. I'm mostly self taught, but have a friend who teaches. He thinks that the series is very well put together. The one thing that I think would help to improve them, would be the inclusion of words to the songs when learning the strumming patterns, I feel that it would be useful to know on which word the chord changes were actually made. But that's just a minor point on my part. I'm just about to start using book 3, so far with the help of my friend I'm doing ok. The series also gets you started in Fingerpicking/ Fingerstyle playing which is great when you can learn to follow Tab & pick out the melody. If you feel so inclined there is the opportunity to take an exam & get qualified, the instructions are included within each book.So overall, go ahead, learn to play the Ukulele, I'm just sorry that I didn't start earlier.
