A psychology course between two covers
This is a mammoth work, both in scope and size: a psychology course between two covers, but with nearly 1,000 A4 pages, and weighing in at 2.75 kilo it is difficult to carry around, and certainly can’t easily be read on a train, plane, or in a waiting room. It is even a bit awkward to read in bed. For this reason I bought both the print and the Kindle editions, but if you can only afford one, get the print edition, because the presentation is superb, with colour coded diagrams, tables and case studies. These don’t come over on a standard Kindle, although they are passable if the kindle version is accessed on a computer or tablet. The book is divided into 50 chapters, with each making sense on its own, so you can skip those subject that don’t interest you. My main complaint is the lack of a glossary and a schedule of acronyms, of which there are legion. Each new piece of jargon, and its associated acronym, is explained once, but afterwards can be confusing, although many of them are summarised at the end of each chapter. One advantage of having the Kindle version is that, if you access it on a computer, you can copy (ctrl C) sections and paste them into Word or similar to be printed out. I have done this to the chapter summaries and keep them handy for jargon busting. They should also help when revising.According to Wiki, the author has never held a research or teaching post at a major university, and this may be why the book is so accessible to someone like me who has come new to the subject.

Highly recommended.
Despite the fact that I am a PhD student, this book represents a sound foundational basis for psychology. It covers all the major perspectives in psychology, and is a thoroughly enjoyable read. Although I will not use it as reference guide for my research, it is nevertheless an essential purchase for undergraduate students. Highly recommended.

Excellent Buy!
An amazing item for any social work, psychology (or related subject) students currently doing access or level 3 course and above. Uses relevant, historical and recent case studies to help with each unit/topic. I would thoroughly recommend and worth every penny.

Fantastic book. A lot more information in it than I had expected which is good. Has some good subjects in. Was recommended by my teacher at college. Doesn't have some of the topics I wanted to see in it but overall a good book.
