Pop Culture Freaks: Identity, Mass Media, and Society

Good Intentions
I bought this based on the title, not realizing that it is an extended study on Glee -- not my favorite show. It's really a critical reading of the show, examining the multicultural elements of the under-represented, as evidenced by Glee. That said, Kidd is not an apologist for the show, but rather an evenhanded examiner that rightly says that Hollywood should not use the under-represented to establish their own political street cred, which I find the most intriguing insight in the book.

We'll organized and information dense, apparently this must be more words in order to be acceptable. Not sur why that is!

5/5
It's an easy to read very interesting book, if you're into pop culture. It'd not as broad as it could be with some media types (video games for example), but very broadly applicable. It's also very well structured and you can read specific chapters without the others.
