Dark Color.
I like the dark color. A felt is necessary under your sumi-e painting as you paint to absorb extra liquid. I always use a felt mat. I like this mat. It's a great large size and dark color. THis is a good quality product at a good price. I recommend. Thank you HMAY. I have included a photo of my painting table to show you the mat.

Works wonderfully
Wonderfully thick felt just ideal for painting and calligraphy. I have used white wool felt and white polyester felt for years. The purple is a nice change. I work near a patio door with lots of light and found there was less glare when working on the purple felt.

Good quality felt mat
A nice, thick felt to put under my xuan paper when I am painting. It allows the ink to penetrate the paper but cuts down on the bleed.

Great purple color felt mat. This dark color won't show ink and paint stains very much. Weight is perfect for Sumi-e painting.

Thick and absorbent, a good product, that will last for a long time. Neutral color, very helpful for rice paper.
