Protect either mattress or box spring. Bed bug and dust mite infestations are serious problems that can cause a variety of health concerns including asthma, eczema and allergies. Fits well.
Mattress fits into cover well despite the difficulty in getting the cover on the mattress. The cover actually unzips down the top and along the side to make it easier, but it's still pretty difficult to get a mattress into a bag. It does appear to be pretty sturdy and resilient, but I won't know until it's been through the wash once or twice.

ZIPPER DESIGNED TO FAIL.
Waste of money.Zipper missing the "bottom stop".The first time you unzip it, it will never zip back up again. But you won't know till months or years later when you take it off the first time...Hence the good reviews. Why would they charge so much and use such a cheap zipper?I can guess...Got so angry when I had to buy a new mattress encasement, I wrote this review several years later.

not worth what i paid
It's been almost a year since I bought this for my memory foam mattress. It lasted a good while and I loved that it zipped up and was secure--it didn't slide around at all and my sheets fit over it perfectly. However, the last few months the zipper started separating in the middle of one side, so that i had to unzip the entire mattress pad and then re-zip it all the way to close it back up. Very annoying. This happened multiple times. I believe perhaps my mattress is just too thick for it, although description says up to 12" deep. It did keep the mattress 100% protected from liquid spills. However, the stains did not come out completely in the wash. It was clean so I continued to use it after washing. However, after this last time of the zipper separating I got frustrated and simply tore it off the bed and trashed it. I feel like it should have lasted a lot longer considering I paid $55 for it with shipping. It may work for you if your mattress is not quite as thick as mine.

which is quite annoying when you're trying to sleep
These are well-made, but the waterproofing makes noise every time you move, which is quite annoying when you're trying to sleep. Because of this, I would not purchase this product again. This may resolve with repeat washing, I don't know; I didn't use it long enough to get that far, but I am trying to be fair.

THIS is the cover you NEED to buy. Don't go cheap or you're WASTING your money! Read on for more info
This product has exactly the quality I was hoping it would have. I want you to know that I spent hours, hours, searching for the RIGHT bed bug cover. This one is not the least expensive, also not the most- and you should continue reading because there are a few pointers I'm going to lay out for you.-First, you can NOT go to Wal-Mart to get a bed bug cover. You will be wasting your money, because there is no room for error here; you must have a quality product- or you are wasting every dime you are about to spend. Cheap ones rip more easily, and they also allow your bed bugs to bite you *through* the cover, leaving them alive and well, albeit contained beneath the sheet.-You absolutely must get a *SCIENTIFICALLY CERTIFIED* product. One they have done real research on, to prove its worth. This Aller-Zip cover was the highest rated of them all- even the ones that are more expensive do not surpass THIS one in testing, and I am just a small town girl, not affiliated with ANY company whatsoever, telling you this.-This cover is the ONLY one with the strength not to rip as long as you are careful (all covers will rip if you are not careful with them- if they do, use duct tape (---NOT *DUCK* tape---)to cover any rips you create).-This cover does not allow the bugs to bite you through it.-The zipper on this spread actually comes with a zip tie- use it, and never ever take this off your bed. Maybe 2 years from when you put it on (bed bugs can live up to 18 months with no food!), maybe you can take it gently off and wash it, putting it immediately back on. But pretty much, just don't ever take it off.-This is the one you need to buy. I know it's seventy dollars, or whatever the price is when you're actually buying, but trust me, the peace of mind, knowing that you bought the RIGHT ones, is totally worth every single dime.-Lastly, do not buy the encasement made for the boxspring. Mostly, those are made cheaper (no matter what company you buy it from), and they rip a lot easier. So the best thing for you to do, and what I did myself after much research, is to buy TWO *mattress* covers. For me, everything went on the mattresses and boxsprings very easily. I did have a helper, but I think I could have even done it alone- with precision and CARE. If you ever rip your sheet, you tape it up quickly with DUCTttttt tape. Not duck tape.I hope this helps, and good luck. You've been dealing with bloodsuckers all your life (mosquitoes, leeches, etc.), and you will get through this, too.

Very pleased mama.
I have owned this product for years now and it has done an excelent job. We got bed bugs when we were about to move apartments, so i bought this to protect my mattress during the move and did some major steaming of everything. I still use it as i have gone through 2 boys, one still in night time potty training. It does it's job. I have washed in hot water and bleached... Very pleased.

I have been trying to get this on the mattress for over an hour
This is definitely a two-person job and I will have to call for help to finish getting this on the mattress. I am a fairly strong woman but this cover is so tight and it's for a full size mattress with a depth of about 7 inches, it should fit but I am having real problems getting the last corner on. I would recommend otherwise as it appears to be well made.
