A: Apple soldered a socket for the SSD that was just-slightly narrower than normal, on many of their Macs. I don't know if the 1TB that fits your A1466 is going to fit this Dual Bay, that is normal size sockets.

A: If it's the 12+16 Pin Flash HD, then yes.

**Q: So are you supposed to put the copper thermal pad *on top* of the regular thermal pad on top of the NVMe like a sandwich?**
A: Yes, put the silicone one on top of SSD, and then put the copper one on top of silicone thermal pad.

Worked great with all the SAS drives i attached SSD and HDD 2.5 and 3.5 and which is why i got this (to erase server drives). It worked with some SATA drives but not so well with others. It would either be slow, or it would attach and then lose it.
