Take It Personally Knit and Lace Blocking Wires Kit, Other, Multicoloured, 4.06 x 4.06 x 94.61 cm

If you do a lot of knitting and want your items to look good then blocking wires are definitely the way forward. So much better than pins alone!This is a good kit, but it does depend on what you want to use it for. In its favour I would say that it:- had plenty of wires so you can block more than one piece at the same time- came well packaged in a strong storage tube delivered inside a delivery box (it seemed to be an issue in the past that it was posted in the tube but they have obviously stopped this practice)- the yard stick is less prone to stretching over use as fabric tapes can so gives a more accurate measurement.However, I wanted to use it for blocking scarves knitted in 2- and 4-ply cashmere and found that:- the rigid wires were a little too thick for the fine yarn and left marks on the piece once dry; you need to be extremely careful how you thread through the piece to avoid this- the wood on the yard stick was unfinished and, while not exactly rough, it did catch a little on the fine yarn; a coat of varnish would have helped- there weren't enough t-pins if you were using all the wires at the same time; I had some already so not a big deal but would recommend you get some extras if you don't already have them- being American the yard stick is exactly that, a yard stick - no metric measurements! I didn't really mind this as I am of the feet and inches generation but could be a slight issue if you want to work in centimetres.Took just under 3 weeks to arrive, which was about the middle of the delivery estimate, and to be expected since coming from the US.Overall, I would recommend this product to keen knitters and would have rated it higher if I had been using it for blocking garments. But if, like me, you are working in very fine yarns then the finer flexible blocking wires would be better.

Have only used these once and now realise they are easily bent if not handled carefully. I am new to blocking so I lack experience. I would have liked the kit to have included a greater number of pins as I had to source more before using to block a shawl which is the reason I purchased the kit in the first place.

This is a comprehensive set of good quality wires and makes blocking of large items very simple indeed. The kit contains t-pins (which can be hard to source, so useful to have here) and a metre rule. The cardboard tube packaging is sturdy enough for long-term storage. I am very happy with this product.

Arrived within 2 days of ordering, well packaged. All straights are true and the bendy ones just brilliant for doing sleeves and curves. Even comes with cardboard sleeve to store them in Would recommend and give 10/10

Did the job they were purchased for. My first time blocking so I don't know any different! Did take a while to receive though.
