A Nail-Biter
Bone White by Tim McWhorter is definitely not for the squeamish. This is a thrilling yet disturbing tale brought to immediacy through the use of a first person narrator for most of the story. Teenagers Garrett and Luke find themselves in unfamiliar territory during a fishing trip, and when the rain starts coming down hard, they seek shelter in an old church that appears to be abandoned.Leading up to this, the two friends are more than aware that three female students from their high school have disappeared. This puts them on edge, and Luke wants to stay out of the church. But Garrett leads the way and Luke follows him inside, and from there things go downhill. If you enjoy nail-biting horror stories that might just keep you up at night, give Bone White a try.

Atmospheric chiller
An atmospheric chiller where two boys go into the wilderness to fish. They stumble across an old abandoned church which has been blacked out. With the three missing girls from their school on their mind they enter to get out of the storm which hit them.I really enjoyed the anticipation which creeps up the spine after every chapter in this novel, and the weirdness of the two antagonists, especially the younger one.It got a little cheesy when the protagonist finds one of the missing girls, but teenage boys are cheesy around girls, so I can get over that.Well worth reading.

WOW!
Where to start??I knew nothing of this author or of this book when I decided on a whim to buy it from Amazon. Talk about pleasantly surprised! This story is suspense at it's finest. I was completely swept away with the characters and story and couldn't put it down! I actually read it in less than 12 hours, if that says anything about the story and author's writing style. The story is mostly told from Luke's point of view, with an occasional view into "His Daughter's/Belinda's" frame of mind. I felt like I was with Luke both physically and emotionally the entire time. I felt his fears, his moments of horror, and his brief glimpses of hope.If you like a fantastic, suspenseful read, look no further than this amazing story. I can't wait to read "Blackened", which is a continuation of this story set a year in the future from the ending of "Bone White".Definitely giving this one a full 5 stars!

It is worth the read.
I started reading this book almost 2 years ago and had to stop because my son and his best friend were the same age and that was all I could focus on at the time. I picked it back up last week and I am glad I did. This book is very well read and it keeps you on your toes. I read it straight through having to know how it ends. I thought that there should be a sequel and I am glad that there is one. I am now on to Blackened :)

Not great. Not bad
This is a fairly run of the mill shock/horror slasher, psycho-sexual, religious deviant, child molester story. We a have deranged killer who is doing the Lord's work by abducting, abusing, and the dismembering young women. And the icing on the cake it that he is teaching his young duaughter to emulate him. Enter our hero who is determined to track this guy down and find his friends, one of whom is a likely abductee. The poor sap gets surprised and entrapped the killer, and must find a way to exricate himself...Not for the squeamish as it contains some fairly detailed descriptions of the gorey business of corporal dismemberment. If the Jason, Friday the 13th type shock/horror w a dash of child molestation is your cup o tea this will light up your night.Priced right.

Was this proofread?
You'd wonder if anyone proofread this - there are some most peculiar uses of words; such as: 'lied on my back' (incorrect use of 'lied' on several occasions), 'out of site' (for goodness sake!), 'drug in the mud' (now...really?)...and many more. There are a series of strange analogies that are weirder than a spoon in a bagpipe (sorry, could not resist something equally as silly).I THINK that the plot is supposed to be gripping and the reader filled with horror and shocked, but the telling rambles on-and-on so much that the reader is more in danger of losing interest and falling asleep. The ending is just bewildering - you'd wonder if even the author knew what happened! Why ***? Well someone (presumably) made an effort.

Another "couldn't put it down" from Tim McWhorter!
It seems I'm always reading something for work, but rarely for pleasure. I was so excited about WHEN this book was released--I had some down time around the holidays and really wanted to escape to the "land of somewhere in a book"!! The author's first book, Shadows Remain, held my attention the entire time and I hoped this one would as well--AND IT DID! Oh, I got the much needed escape from reality that I needed and that started on page one!! I found myself breathless with my heart racing, gasping, talking to the characters...this book pulls you in and you are one with the characters from start to finish. I love it when that happens. Keep the books coming, Tim!

Pretty good mystery thriller
Really good mystery novel. I liked the boy and was really shocked and saddened by some of the deaths and events that took place. I read it al in one sitting -while eating some great Chinese food-I didn't pay anything for it but I would now buy another from this author.

Too much of a slasher
Too much of a slasher for me but if that's to your taste you will like it.

This was really good, although kind of gory
This was really good, although kind of gory. Obviously, I knew that before I bought it, but some details I could've gone without. It was very descriptive, well-written, and I liked Garrett and Luke. I just had to keep reading, to know how things would turn out for the two teens. Definitely going to reread this book again.
