Sweet Small Town Romance ♥️🩺🚤💙
I really enjoyed this story of figuring out what is important. Evie is a successful doctor looking to finally settle down and find the right man. Tyler is younger, and not the kind of man she thinks she wants. Until she gets to know him. There are so many things more important than money and prestige, and as Evie and Tyler navigate their relationship, both of them determine what is most important in their lives. The characters from Bell Harbor are incredibly entertaining and I really enjoyed revisiting this town. This is a good series.

3.5 out of 5 Stars for a bad case of disappointing sequel...
Dr. Evelyn Rhoades aka Evie is a successful surgeon of the small town of Bell Harbor, near Lake Michigan. She's never really had a thing for long-term relationships, settling down and playing house. But on her 35th birthday, her biological clock starts ticking, and Evie starts making up a list of requirements for her perfect husband-to-be. With the help of her best friend and colleague Hilary and Hilary's sister Gabby, she signs up to a Bell Harbor dating service to get the ball rolling.Meanwhile, when on call, Evelyn meets very handsome patient Tyler Connelly. He's a perfect specimen of facial symmetry and with killer eyes. But he's also 27 years old and alsmost 10 years her junior, was brought in drunk and got arrested right after Evelyn finished to suture his wound. He does in no way comply to her husband-requirements-list (and he's a patient!), but Tyler is so insistent that Evelyn might change her mind and not go husband hunting just yet.Well, let me start by saying that I ab-so-lu-te-ly LOVED the first part of the Bell Harbor Series: Crazy Little Things. This book was pure perfection in the style of Alice Clayton: funny, sassy and a little romantic and cheesy, just as I like it, and it hit my 2013-Favorites Book Shelves (and this holds a honorable status). So it was unquestionable: The Best Medicine was a highly expected release for me.I was very happy to find out that The Best Medicine kept up that funny - no, scratch that - kept up that hilarious vibe, making it an incredibly distracting and entertaining read. The Best Medicine is a standalone but will recall a few of the characters from Crazy Little Thing. But while the latter was centered not only on the main characters, but also a lot on the side-characters, The Best Medicine emphasizes a lot more on only Evelyn and Tyler. That's all well and good (and did I mention hilarious?) but when the pace of the story is not right, nothing is. The Best Medicine was a fairly short read, and the more advanced I was in the book, the more I started to wonder "What's going to happen to make this book a blast, because honestly - what could probably happen in the 10 last percent?".Well, nothing mindblowing. The end is rushed, as is Evelyn and Tyler's relationship on the whole. There is no real mindblowing intrigue to their story either, apart from the fact that 1) Evelyn is concerned about age difference and ethical conflict of dating a patient - but she quickly throws this caution in the wind and 2) Tyler is concerned he will never live up to Evelyn's standards (and never equal her financially) and Evelyn has no better idea than to pay all his outstanding bills. Clever, huh? Well I'll leave it up to you to find out what Tyler's reaction to that is.Oh and by the way I absolutely loved the characters, and especially Tyler, who is a perfect book boyfriend. But I just feel like Tracy Brogan has given us great characters but not the great story they deserve. Or at least is is - excuse the language - a half-assed attempt. Also, don't go looking for steamy scenes in this book because they are literally skipped. What a shame...I would still recommend this book for it's hilariousness-factor, but don't expect any fireworks. Just a nice, quick and momentarily distracting light read. Again, what a shame...

THIS BOOK IS A TEN STAR AND HILARIOUS BOOK!!!!!!!!!! :)
I mistakingly put a review of this book on another book! OOPS!! Everyone's going to read how HILARIOUS a book was -that wasn't!! I'm not even sure what book I did that to but it's too late now so I apologize in advance to everyone!! I'm sure I'll get some pretty bad email about it and I will gladly respond about how I made a terrible mistake! I got up too early...my dog ate my homework, my mother in law is from hell, whatever!! LOL!! See? I try!! That's why I AM NOT AN AUTHOR!! Well anyway, this book is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!!! I would give it 10 stars if they would have let me!! The plot is good but the main character is just flat hilarious!! She talks to herself all throughout the book and I swear, I had to RUN to the bathroom sooooo many times to keep from peeing on myself!! Now that's saying something!! (I hope I don't offend anyone-but I'm being honest!!). I couldn't read the book once my husband came to bed b/c I would laugh out loud (I just couldn't help it-I giggled throughout the book and just couldn't help it...) and wake him up!! However, once he's asleep, a train could come through our house and he'd never hear it!! I just had to wait five minutes until he was "out" before I could read this book!! I put it at the very top of my list of books I've read and those include all of the Ellen Degenerus books!! Hers are very funny but this just tickled me more for some reason. I loved Ellen's books but I read those sooooo long ago, maybe I was just due for a really funny book!! I can't even believe nobody else has written a review like this one about this book!! OH...and BTW, I now remember what book I gave this same review about. It was: Runaway Mistress by Robyn Carr. That book was GREAT!!!! I started out HATING the book..then it took a turn and had me HOOKED instantly and I did love the entire book!! I even hated for it to end just like I hated for "The Best Medicine" to end, too!! I ended up loving the main character in "Runaway Mistress", too!! Get it: You'll love it!! Certainly not hilarious but really a good book and very fast page turner!!Okay, I HOPE this will find someone that agrees with me about this book being soooooo funny!! If not, I think people need to "lighten up", take a load off and laugh more!!Please don't hurl rocks at me if you find that review of "Runaway Mistress" I wrote and mistakenly said it was hilarious!! I was just up way too early and not paying attention-I know, not much of an excuse.Sincerely,Roxie

Happy read
Tyler is an EMT. Evelyn is a surgeon. Great meet cute in the ER, where Ty is a patient, and their relationship grows at a good pace. No insta love here, no suspend reality fantasy, and that is a good thing. Evie’s insecurities were totally relatable, and Ty’s were totally understandable, so no angsty heaviness and no annoying frustration. The writing is engaging, the dialogue made me feel I was part of the conversation.I listened to this book, as opposed to reading it, and the voice actor is good; one of my favorites, in fact. It’s easy to tell who’s speaking, her pacing is perfect, and her emotion is neither too bland nor over the top. Goldilocks perfect. :-). My one complaint is that “groceries” does not have an ‘sh’ in the middle of it, but that’s an accent thing, so I can live with it.My only real complaint about the book was the abrupt ending. Like, let’s make up, the end. There was a bit of whiplash -> run into a brick wall sudden stop. Kinda took away some of those sweet feelings at the conclusion of a good book. It was disappointing enough that I came darn close to giving merely three stars. I just loved Tyler too much to do that to him tho. *sigh* such a lovely book boyfriend.

A pleasant book to read
If you are after something easy to read this is a good book to choose. I got it on a freebe. It's a simple chic book, nothing complicated, no tragedy or upset. It was written well and the characters were likeable with some light humour. I would read another from this author especially while on holiday.

The "Best Medicine" for a romance reader.
Light and airy, bright and breezy would describe this romance perfectly. Not a deep and meaningful tale but a warm and cosy, comfortable and safe story. I enjoyed reading this book before bedtime as it is really calm and steady. I only gave it four stars because I really I wanted to get to know the characters and feel their emotions a little more.

Good read
How somebody can think they are not good enough financially or educationally can be read differently to the person who does not feel that way. Pride can be an awful thing to hold onto until people talking it through can work it out

Good holiday read
This is the second book in this series but the characters from the first book are only mentioned in passing so it's doesn't matter if you haven't read it. This is a very easy read and quite predictable. However, it is enjoyable and would be good to take on holiday when you don't want to have to think too much.
