Mini Japanese Samurai/Ninja Sword Letter Opener,10"&8.5" with Stand,3000-KINCHA

These look really sharp! The handles are plastic as is the stand but they have some good detail. Also the blades are sturdy and are stamped "made in Japan" which was a bonus for me.

First off the bad. Unless you sharpen these yourself, they are not very functional letter openers. They'll tear a letter open i'm sure, but a nice clean cut, they will not. Not only that but taking them off their flimsy plastic stand and unsheathing them feels janky and cheap. So as a tool, i'd recommend you pass and find something else.As a display however, they are not too shabby. I was looking for a mini Samurai Sword set to display on a small shelf, and out of a few options i looked at, these seemed to look the best. And they do look sharp, sitting on a high shelf with a little distance between it and the viewer. They're definitely cheap, and on closer inspection they're less impressive. So you decide for yourself based on what your looking to use them for.

This is a very cool letter opener. It arrived on time and in great condition. I wish it would have had directions for putting stand together, but I just used a picture of the item and figured it out. Otherwise no issues.

The stand is cheap plastic and for whatever reason, the lower rung doesn't hold either sword correctly. I might have to use an exacto-knife to carve out a deeper slot. The knotted "rope" on the scabbards prevents putting the swords in so that the "sharp" sides of the blades face upwards, so I have to put them in the other way on the stand.The cutting edge of the blade of the wakizashi is thin enough that it does a good job of acting as a letter opener, without being a danger to clumsy handling. However, the katana's blade is equally thick on both edges, so it's very inefficient at cutting through an envelope, especially one that is a bit thick. I may need to sharpen it some, so it can actually get some "bite". That might ruin its appearance, which is meant to imitate multiple folds of steel, but at least then, it'll do its job as a letter opener.

It's exactly like the big version of it. well made and very detailed. This is now being displayed at my desk. As a letter opener.

Nice looking, just using for display on desk, as good as expected for the money.

Product was not what it was labeled.. DISSATISFIED!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine came slightly worn with the tsuba's gold paint rubbed off on one side. The packaging left much to be desired. I was also hoping they'd be somewhat useful or at least able to be sharpened into a functional letter opener, but no such opener has an "edge" that is flat. It's literally a rectangle. My camera can't focus on it well enough, but that's why you're better off using your finger to open letters. Sharpening would require a grinder or a whole lot of persistence on a whetstone. Still looks nice though.Update: Just realized that the sheath is wood. Real bummer the "blades" weren't given as much attention to detail, especially the proportions and shape.

プラモの冑を作ったのでその前に飾ろうと思います。この価格にしたら良くできていると思いますよ。ペーパーナイフとしては大刀は刃の部分の幅が広く適しませんが、小刀の方は紙1枚なら切れます。
