I don't have a big budget, so I took a chance. I'll cut right to the chase. I like it a lot. To my ears, it sounds fairly transparent and quiet overall. I'm using an SM57 and for my use case it works well. I needed separate input and output channels, which this has, and that allows me to send each mic to its own signal chain. Additionally, the unit has two 1/4" instrument inputs on the front, which lets you add two additional mics/instruments. While I don't have a use for that right now, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. The metal case feels pretty rugged, and the knobs feel fairly sturdy, as well.
