Get the sleep you need fast & stay asleep longer with the updated, 2017 Generation 5. sound-reducing & patent pending Hibermate sleep mask. Product Benefits: The Hibermate sleep mask is a super-comfortable, luxury eye mask with removable ear muffs especially designed to be slept with. It makes a great gift! The ear muffs are made from flexible, medical grade silicone (now thicker and more sound absorbent) and have been updated with 2 sets of sound-reducing super-soft ear cushions, the first is a classic donut, the second set are 'pads' designed to help with side sleeping comfort. Updated for 2017, the new Gen 5. model Hibermate features 2 very soft and easy to adjust 12mm (1/2 inch) bands for easier adjustability, the straps will NEVER lose their 'stretchiness' and are guaranteed to stay comfortably in place all night long. The new Hibermate is comfortable if you sleep on your side your back or your front and if you're travelling, meditating (sitting upright) or resting. They're perfect if you're a shiftworker, or about to travel, or simply if you're trying to sleep in noisy situations. Please note, although more comfortable, the Hibermate is not as effective at reducing noise as ear plugs or industrial, hard plastic ear muffs. It's super-important when wearing the ear cups to try and ensure they're sealed against your skin. If you have long or thick hair, try and place the cups underneath your hair as best you can. Like on all ear muffs, cups placed over thick hair will let lots of sound through. We've tried to strike a balance between comfort and sound blocking with the Hibermate! All aspects of the new 2017 Hibermate have been proudly conceived by USA & Australian design partners.

Not perfect but not at all bad
I give this a bonus point because there's simply no other sleeper-friendly earmuff available on the market.I use this nightly because I'm a light sleeper and otherwise the nightime noises my husband inadvertently makes would drive me nuts. I've had to stop using ear plugs because they inhibit my ears cleaning themselves of wax, and I needed my ears syringed. Not something I want to do regularly. The sleep mask is top quality. best light exclusion I've had yet. The ear muffs let in more noise than wax earplugs but aren't bad for muffs that are small and soft enough to actually sleep in.There's room for improvement in the straps, which are thin and elasticated and hard to adjust. Having used sleep masks with similar straps in the past, they tend to wear out after a couple of months, and it would be shame for a premium product to be let down by something so simple. So overall, I'm reasonably pleased with this. It could be better, but it more-or-less does what I need, and they deserve kudos for actually making the only product to fill this particular gap in the market.

Five Stars
Excellent for reducing background noise. Took a while to get used to sleeping with ear muffs, but really good.

Useless.
Totally useless. It didn't block out any sound. A complete waste of money.

Helpful (for small headed back-sleepers only)
I've already contacted the manufacturer and I'll just cut & paste my email to them plus their reply and let you draw your own conclusions.Hi Chris,I bought the Hibermate Sleep Mask - Pitch Black on the 11th October as I am struggling to get to sleep in town with lots of background noise through the night.Unfortunately I am a side-sleeper and no amount of soft pillows nor tweaking the ear-pads etc could make the ear-muffs settle down. I constantly felt like my head was rocking on the earmuffs due to the solid structures. If only there was a way to make them more flexible -maybe some kind of gel-filled edges like you sometimes get as wrist-rests on mouse-pads?I also found the straps to be too tight, even on maximum extension. I know I don't have an above average head size and I also see that many other users have mentioned this issue. Seems a no-brainer to fix. I'm sure with a bit of use there would be some give in the tautness, however a bit of use would necessitate wearing it, which is uncomfortable and certainly not conductive to a good night's sleep. All in all, this product was worse than nothing for the straightforward issue I have. I suspect if the strap were a little looser I might keep it for long journeys, but for lying down it makes it harder, not easier, to sleep (in fact I was unable to drop off to sleep while wearing it and hurled it at the wall in a fit of frustration somewhere around 2 am - sorry).I don't know what your returns policy is or how you aim to resolve customer complaints, but since you left a card asking politely for negative feedback to be sent to the company first, I figured I'd at least give you a chance.Regards,Alastair[their reply]Hi Alistair.Sorry to hear to hear the Hibermate hasn't been a success for you. Some folks love them & other's, well, aren't so keen - it is a very personal thing. Thank you so much for trying it out though. I'm most grateful.
