Easy to use, quality scanner for slides, photos & assorted documents, at a reasonable price
My Kedok Photo and Film Scanner arrived this afternoon. It was well packaged and in perfect condition. It was up and running in minutes. Hey folks! Remember to remove the acetate protective sheet from the photo plate. I suspect some of those disappointed with the photo quality neglected to remove it. That would REALLY mess with photo quality! I have an enormous quantity of family slides, photos, some negatives, as well as a wide variety of documents dating to the late 1800's. This Scanner will be used in conjunction with my 11x17 format printer/scanner. I put the Kedok Scanner to the test tonight - scanning slides, photos, and aged clippings (e.g. family obituaries). Everything scanned quickly and with good quality. If I have a photo I want to save with exceptional resolution & color I will use my 11x17 scanner/printer. But, for the 1000's of pieces of data I have, this scanner is perfect. It is a great value for the money; the functions are easy to use; there is very little set up; data transfers to my laptop easily.

Easy to use.
The negative and slide viewer works great to view the material. I have not tried to make digital copies yet.

Don’t buy
Not worth the time. Quality is very poor and the bottom of the lid will show up in the scan of the picture is not 5X7. Flimsy adapters for smaller size pictures. Many pictures are not straight. Will take too much time to manually edit each picture. Back to square one

Not great for photos, keeping for negatives
I got better scans of my photo with my iPhone 11. Clear top plate is scratched, which doesn't help. I haven't tried negatives yet. I hope that feature works well, because that's the only reason I'm keeping it. Leaving 3 stars with the assumption I'll be able to use it for the film.

Needs work
I purchased this item to convert some slides and photos for the family. These were from post-war Japan. I tested several similar devices. This was the only one with the photo copying capability that I tested.First of all, when I tried digitizing the slides, I found it quite cumbersome as the slide holder did not fit well into the slot. The color adjustment was also a bit problematic. I selected the Magnasonic slide digitizer instead.Secondly was the photo digitizer. Once learning how the buttons adjusted things went well at first. That was until I looked at the files. The artifact was amazing. Looking more closely it was obvious that the platen was the problem. This was a piece of plexiglass that came with no protective guarding (film, etc.). The attached picture is one of my video cassettes for illustration. This was after cleaning. The plexiglass was thoroughly scratched. I was under a time constraint so needed a solution rather than return, reshop and reorder. I went to Home Depo and purchased an 8x10 piece of glass. Home Depot did not cut glass to match the platen. Luckily my wife makes glass jewelry and was able to cut the glass for me. The difference in performance was outstanding. Finally, there was the software problem. There is software with the item that is to help with copying business cards. Unfortunately, this software and Windows Explorer did not get along and locked up my computer. Interestingly, the software did not show up in Windows Uninstaller or CCleaner. I had to manually remove as much as I could and the clean the registry. In the end, this is serving nicely as a photo copier for older B&W photos, and I like it for that. The hassle to get it working was a major issue. For the slides, the holder should fit the slot better and a more graduated color control. Regarding the software, I know that software incompatibilities may vary from machine depending on other software, but I suspect this is more basic. The platen issue is really unforgiveable. If you are going to use plastic, at least provide a protective film on it. The damage on mine could have been in transit but given how widespread the damage was I believe that this was a previously used item. The best solution for quality would be a glass platen.I did not return the item because of the time needs to get the digitizing done. Now that it is done, I have a small "desktop copier" for small items

Clarity
I was very happy with the results. Easy to use and surprised to see how clear the negatives presented.
