Quickly promotes lush growth.
This review is for Jobe’s Organics granulated all-purpose plant food, 16 lb bag. I have been trying to grow flowering perennials, herbs, vegetables, and fruit here for 5 years. The flowers, vegetables and herbs are in pots and raised beds. I compost food and some yard waste. I have struggled with most of the raised beds and pots to get vigorous, lush growth. This summer I tried different organic potting soils, added compost, worm castings, another brand of organic fertilizer, and azomite. I would get a bit of response in some containers, but nothing lasting. I searched for organic, pelleted fertilizer and decided to try Job’s. The package arrived quickly. I set it in the outside porch for a few days and possums or raccoons tore into the bag, so I concur that animals are attracted to it as other reviewers have described. Our cats were not interested. I transferred the fertilizer to a plastic, lidded container for storage as I do with all fertilizers. The product is a perfect consistency, small pellets that are easy to scoop and spread (unlike the other pelleted organic fertlizer I bought that had large pellets that were disintegrating). I applied a small amount to various pots and beds. My basil plants that were barely growing for months suddenly sprang to life with new growth and big leaves. Geraniums that were not growing and stopped flowering after I repotted them similarly greened up and started flowering. The sickly catnip turned a deep green. The pathetic Nasturtiums greened up and started flowering again. I have seen no evidence of burning as I have experienced with some fertilizers. I am really pleased with this fertilizer. I will definitely buy more. I hope Jobe’s doesn’t change the product. It is great the way it is. I would prefer it be packaged in a paper bag, as I am trying to reduce waste, especially single-use plastics.

Something had to change and this is the chosen vehicle.
Traditional gardening was getting to be so difficult for us and we needed to try something different so we moved to bags indoors. The heat, cold, low humidity, zero rain, winds, hard clay soil and the increased UV at our altitude just play havoc with our vegetable gardens and fruit trees… do a search on UV strength and see what it can do to your garden. Veggies will do well and then fail to mature or even bring out more blossoms so we’re moving to bags and doing a lot more indoors until we can move them outdoors under some large frames that hold shade netting. We’re on the high desert of Idaho where there’s about 3-months between the frost dates in late June and early September and even in the middle of August we’re getting overnight lows in upper thirties to low forties. We now have several plastic greenhouses from small to very large and they’re all indoors because we get a lot of wind and it’s often over 30-mph and there’s just no way to anchor them to stay put. We have grow lights, heat, humidity and no weeds. It’s not perfect but we mix our own planting medium of compost, peat, steer manure, topsoil, fertilizer and potting soil with varying mixtures to meet the needs of what’s being planted. The 5-gallon bags are perfect size for us and are easy to move because they don’t get very heavy but I still can’t picture them as 5-gallon bags so go by the measurements. We have some carrots, tomato plants and herbs that are doing well and will be planting more as fall approaches and they’ll be inside. We have a log cabin nearby that has enough space for a 10” x 6” greenhouse and efforts to heat the entire room in prior years was expensive so this will be easy in comparison. This year, our squash quit on us because the UV was too intense from a lot of cloudless days and it’s more than depressing to have a short growing plus have everything stop in their tracks because of conditions that are totally out of our control. Nights in July and August used to be warm but now we’re getting those low temps there’s nothing to do except hope for the best. We’re still doing the gardens but this is a major scaling back and hopefully we’ll see some more produce earlier and later than the outdoor planting permits. At least we can pull some things indoors when it’s windy and/or cold and this year we actually got a much better potato yield from a bag than we did in the soil. Can’t say how long these bags will last but at about 8-bucks for a 5-pack it doesn’t matter and they’re much better than plastic that deteriorates quickly in the sun and gets too hot for the plant roots. We knew we were in trouble with our fruit trees when the cold nights pushed the trees to dump everything they had into the fruit (especially the apricots & plums) so they went from hard to over-ripe in a matter of days but there’s not much to be done about it. Outdoors, fertilizing was done with liquids but indoors that’s not so practical so the all purpose bags with varying blends has worked much better and we can more easily treat each based on what they need. Buying bags in the nearest town (40-miles away) is all but impossible since all stores carry pretty much the same thing and they’re only in small bags… and only available from April thru July and then everything goes back to the vendors until next year. We do purchase based on price and when it’s about a buck a pound that seems to be a pretty decent price. Our soil is pretty crappy clay that needs a lot of amendment so doing this inside makes it not only more practical but the fertilizer won’t blow away. It’s hard to rate something like fertilizer but it has helped the plants and it’s not available locally so the 4-stars is pretty much for what it means… I like it.

Great fertilizer!
I used this fertilizer at the beginning of the summer w all of my veggies, especially tomatoes and peppers. It isn't an instant release fertilizer, but within a few weeks my plants responded to it and really took off! This stuff works! It smells a little, but after u water that smell goes down.. its not the worst organic fertilizer smell by far, but it still smells a little.. I will keep repurchasing from Amazon, they have a great price!

No Archaea
I ordered this product SPECIFICALLY because it claims to contain Archaea. In fact, the bag shown on Amazon lists Archaea as an ingredient. But the bag I received shows that it contains absolutely ZERO Archaea AT ALL. This component is not even listed on the label. Buyer beware!Update - the Seller resolved this issue with excellent customer service. I will not hesitate to purchase from them in the future.

Good fertilizer
This is a good fertilizer. A couple of things should be noted, first it does take a few days for the nutrients to make it to the plants and second there is a very strong smell. I would definitely recommend using outside but only use for house plants when the windows can be kept open for at least 24-48 hrs.

Excellent organic fertilizer
This organic fertilizer is better than I expected. Very high quality! My plants respond very well after I used it for a month. The bougainvillea flushes with clusters of flowers I have never seen before. Also, the price is good for the amount of product. I will continue using it.

I love this product!
I use this in my PNW perennial and vegetable garden and I can tell the difference. I like that it's organic and 1 bag usually lasts me the growing season. It was a good deal and I plan to buy it again.

Great organic food
Being "all purpose" makes it really versatile. It helps my evergreens, garden and just about anything I want to grow faster. I'll be getting more.

Great deal at $15!
This is a great fertilizer for an outside garden. This is not so good for indoor plants as it can cause mold to grow in the soil.

If I knew what i do now about this, I'd avoid it.
Strange looking fertilizer. Unlike any I've had before. Seems like heavy dust. Plants have had absolutely no response to it.

So far so good. All is green and greener.
Very happy with it. My wild roses, corn flowers, etc. looking much better than last year. My third pack of fertilizer and used for an anemic thin earth over rocks in coastal Maine.
