Disappointed
I only started needle felting 2 years ago and I have now about 5 maybe 6 books, I was looking forward to trying this one. I decided to not look on too much and just get on with the job in hand, I have made cats before but never in this way, but not everyone is the same. I got so far and was beginning to get rather confused when told to add padding but with no idea of how much or where best to put it. The instructions were sparse and the pictures not only small but gave limited indication of what you were supposed to do. Something that I found was that the cat that was being held in the picture beared no relation in size to what I was holding in my hand. I'm now making up my own mind on how to complete it.

A comprehensive resource
While the skill level of these designs is well above my current ability, the author has presented a well illustrated technique and focuses on particular anatomical details which make different cats and breeds unique. This detail can easily be applied to other animals as once the observation of body shape is developed it's easier to criticise your own work and correct it. I will be attempting at least a cat face from this book and I think it was very good value for the price. The author doesn't always define what type of needles or wool as her supplies are mostly from Japan, so it pays to do a bit of research on how the various wools and tools work to choose those which work best for you.

Fantastic book
Fantastic book with lots of detail and pictures. Great investment if you want to specialise in making needle felted cats. But be careful, it might be a bit more advance book if you're just starting as realistic cats are difficult.

One for experienced felters
Had a good flick through when it arrived, have yet to try one but the instructions look pretty easy to follow. I’d agree with other reviews on two fronts. Firstly this is not one I’d recommend as an entry point to the hobby as its pretty advanced level. Not saying it’s impossible but there are many introductory books better suited to it.Secondly I feel if the instructions had larger images it would be better as it’s white wool that’s used for the sculpting process so can be a little difficult to see what’s going on.On the whole though it’s a very well written book and the pictures of completed cats from this artist are truly brilliant.I wish there were more books at this level really as I’d love to make many many animals at this skill point.

As a new Felter I thought it was very informative.
I liked that the pictures were nice and clear, I only wish there were some sizes on how much wool to use.I just love the book.

Informative little book
Love this little book. Have taken up needle felting and wanted to make some cats. Step by step instructions guide you through making a cat , and what equipment you will need to do so, with full colour pictures. I was very pleased with my first cat and family were impressed. There are more pictures of different cats that can be made in different poses. An extremely helpful book.
