This TDS meter is pre-calibrated in factory, no need calibrate again by customer, we do this to prevent as many calibration related mistakes as possible, and it's easier to use. To maintain the accuracy, it's better to rinse the probe with distilled water after each use. For your mentioned distilled water, it should read 0 ppm theoretically, but in actual application, if you can't keep test condition very clean, it may read 0-2ppm usually. **Q: Can this also check for ph ?** A: It Does not. It measure TDS , EC and Temperature 3 in 1.
