Pirateology Hardcover – 1 July 2006

This is the second 'Ology' book I have read (after  Wizardology: The Book of the Secrets of Merlin (Ology Series) ) and it's just as much fun. The book itself takes the form of a Captain's Log belonging to Captain William Lubber, a man hired to find and capture notorious female pirate Captain Arrabella Drummond. She has hidden a stash of treasure somewhere too, and the book contains a shred of the map, but Lubber cannot decipher the code or identify the island.You might think that the nature of this book means that the story will be somewhat limited in development considering the narrative, but Duglald Steer does manage to make it consistently entertaining and educational, and even manages to pull off a nice twist at the end. The only complaint I have is that a couple of pages don't have any hidden goodies, and only a few of them extend beyond simple fold-outs. Besides that, it's a great book and I recommend it to children and adults alike. These books are sturdy, but they are also very tall, so you need to make sure you have bookshelves large enough.

This is a birthday present for my sister and she loves it so much. The only thing is that there is a crack on the compass, which is a bit unsatisfying. However there is nothing to complain on for a second-hand book at such low price.

This series of books have lots of little additional features inside that keep you interested in looking through. I have bought these for myself but this copy seemed a little grotty.
