A: Yes the frame can be used without the stand. It's very stable and doesn't seem to bend off the frame. It is a bit on the large side but it would work.

Very good quality.You have to assemble the frame, and the wood is unfinished, but if you take the time to put the enamel or finish that you desire,and then assemble it, you have an excellent embroidery frame.
