Antiracist nativity set?
This nativity set is not at all what I was looking for (In terms of style)... But it is the only one I could find that does not whitewash the Christmas story. Itâs 2020. The time for the all-white-except-for-one-token-Black-wise-man nativity set is over. Can we all agree? Jesus wasnât white. Mary and Joseph werenât white. The shepherds werenât white. Who knows what the wise men were. And angels arenât human, so who says they have to be white and blonde? So although this nativity set isnât at ALL the style I had in mind, it gets stars for being the ONLY racially accurate one.

Fun Concept, But Poor Quality
The idea of making a game out of the nativity and story of Jesus birth is great, and my 2 and half year old son does enjoy looking for the star. We're hoping to continue this every year and that our son can learn while having fun.Sadly, I'd say the quality of what we got wasn't worth the price. From my pictures, you can see glue seeping out from sloppy construction of the wood pieces. The black lettering stamp with "Made in China" is a huge eyesore and super visible. The packaging of the kit was falling apart. The design and printing of the book also seem rather disappointing.I do like the fact that all the figures are simple, smooth blocks. Makes it very kid-friendly and durable.

A great Christian Christmas alternative to Elf on the Shelf
I was looking for Christian alternatives to Elf on the Shelf and found the Star From Afar. The Nativity set is made from wood and is brightly colored with simple drawings of the characters. The Nativity set pieces match the designs in the book. The book explains the Star From Afar on how the star will move every night and to move the Wise Men to it, and then Christmas morning the star will be on top of the Nativity. At the end of the book is the advent calendar part where there is a different bible verse everyday for December 1st -25th. I look forward to doing this for years to come.

Amazing customer service!!!
This is a wonderful set and my little people loved it!!! Waaaaaay more fun than an elf on the shelf (and easier for parents toođ). The set is not super high quality. It is fairly unsightly that you can plainly see the manufacturer stamp when looking at the set in use. A few of the pieces have been dropped a few times, because kids, and some of the pieces are starting to chip.HOWEVER, this set gets a 5 star rating from me because of the customer service. Out of the box, our baby Jesus had a huge slice/scratch going right down the middle. I contacted customer service and they sent a replacement right away. The replacement colors did not quite match my set - they said it mustâve come from a different batch. So they sent me another one that was correct, but it too had an imperfection but they knew that and told me it was a temporary replacement until they could find another. This all sounds like a lot of fuss over Baby Jesus, but I told them it was a set that I hoped to pass down to my grand babies one day. I have been incredibly impressed with customer service. I will be buying from them again. Theyâve got a super cute Easter Egg set thatâs on my wish list.

Great addition to your Christmas traditions!
I bought this for my 3 year old and it is perfect. I love being able to explain and remind him of the reason for the season. Especially, in terms he can easily understand and experience daily through his finding the star each day. This is a great addition to our Christmas traditions.

Star from Afar
We bought this for our 10, 8, and 4 year old to continue the discussion of the true meaning of Christmas and give them something to âdoâ in the midst of that. We love it. Itâs pretty simple. You read the book and then set it up, hide the star and the kids find it. The last night or morning or whenever you decide to do it, the star ends up at the stable, where baby Jesus is. We include it in several different ways that we are celebrating Advent this year and our boys look forward to placing their shepherd by the star each morning, once theyâve located it.

Great tradition for your family
Fun tradition, great way to teach kids the real meaning of Christmas. Slightly disappointed in quality of wood; our star has a large flaw. A piece of our stable was actually broken upon arrival, but we were able to glue it back on.

The nativity characters are simple but nice and sturdy
The nativity characters are simple but nice and sturdy, good for little hands. The stable is very unstable- ha! My son keeps knocking it down, which is the only downfall. My son gets very excited when we ask him where the star is, and ecstatic when he finds it. At 21 months old, I wasnât sure how into it he would be this year, but he loves it! I love that we can read a bible verse together each day and the whole symbolism of the star leading the wise men to the Christ child is fantastic.
