It was hot enough it was smelling bad. So I opened up to look inside
I would have returned this item, but I opened it up. This was the second , I had to returned the first one. The wire was damaged when I got it. I was using this and it got extremely hot, not warm hot. It was hot enough it was smelling bad. So I opened up to look inside. If I can post pictures I will. It had melted part of the electronic parts. From my observation. This unit was scavenged from another charger and the surface end was placed on it. there was a total of four cut wires and 4 new soldered wires on the board. Then soldering was not a good job either. I suspect that a capacitor, rectifier and heat sink added to the circuit. That area is where it over heated. T he first pair of cut wires were at the input. wires coming from the plug. The wires were not big enough in my opinion. The wires being used are smaller then the wires currently in use by the board. The other pair of cut wires went to the surface cord. They looked like they would have been correct size. The soldering job was horrible.I WOULD NOT BUY. I posted pictures. Disclaimer. I did not contact the company for a refund or a replacement. I do not want one of their replacement. Since I opened the product up after I had a problem. I did not ask for a refund. I did not open it up before my problem with it.

Fire hazard!
Very cheaply made. I guess you get what you pay for :( It literally fell apart wo months after I bought it, and is now completely useless. Not only that, where it separated frayed completely and started sparking! Do glad I was there when it happened or it could have started a fire. Before that, the magnet was so weak that it was always falling off.Since it's past the 30 day return policy and there's no warranty, I have to buy another. You can bet it won't be from these guys since I don't want to burn down my house.

Cheaply made, but works
It's what you expect for a $10 replacement charger. It works, it'll charge your surface, but it started to break within about a month. I've had it for about 2 months now, and although it still works, the wires are showing and one is quite frayed. Also, the plug itself gets VERY hot when used for a while, and if you plug it into a power strip, it'll take up about 3 of the spots. That being said, you could buy about 5 of these for the price of one of the microsoft branded chargers which break in about 2 years, so assuming that this lasts for 3-4 months, it really isn't a terrible investment.

Chargers did not work very long and could possibly have damaged my SURFACE PC.
I purchased 2 chargers for my SURFACE PC in June. The first one had the outer plastic insulation break away from the PC plug and then about 2 weeks later would not let me turn the PC off until inunplugged it. I plugged the 2nd charger in 2 days ago and left it plugged in overnight. Yesterday my PC would not turn on and has not worked since. My PC is less than 2 years old. Could the charger have ruined it??? 1/0/18 the charger ruined my laptop, per best buy geek squad. it was not reparable... i had to purchase a new laptop which c ost about $1000.00. does amazon not stand behind its advertised products??? i hold amazon responsible and been thinking about this for over 2 years. of the products i ordered from amazon, half have been unreliable. is amazon going to do anything about the replacement of my pc???

Good extra power cord
This product power adapter works, however, it is not the original that comes with the Microsoft Surface RT. The power base is bulkier. The magnetic strip is just the right one, but bulky. Therefore, I do not leave it plugged in once it is charged up. The cord is shorter than original also. When I plug it in, the screen display powers down a little more than the original. But it charges and does the job. . I use this as a back up cord, because I left the original in a distant motel room. I would consider this a travel cord if the prongs folded in, however, they do not and a little more bulkier that original. Do not let this review stop you from using JBTek. I have used them in the past and been happy on other products. Thank you

Good price, cord too short.
Purchased this for a Windows Surface RT. Charged great, no issues there. Cord was a bit too short. Magnet holds the charger to the Surface and that could be stronger, tends to pull off. Stationary charging is no issue, but when I want to charge and use, it disconnects easily.Pros: Inexpensive and charges well.Cons: Cord too short and tends to fall off charger when using Surface.

It is a good reminder that function and quality often comes at a ...
This charger is not an Original Microsoft Charger, but I knew that as I paid $9 rather than $50. As an example, the light on the end does not light up to show that it is connected to the computer, it is on continuously even when the computer is not there. I will be treating it gently as I do not know the quality of the connectors or wires. But it does what I bought it to do, charge my several year old Surface that I would not have paid $50 to buy a new charger for. It is a good reminder that function and quality often comes at a price, but one should chose the price/quality tradeoff that fits your needs.

It works.
A few weeks in and it works fine. Only "downside"/difference is that, unlike the original adapter that lit up when it was attached to the tablet, this LED lights up whenever the transformer is plugged in. This doesn't leave you any good confirmation that the tablet is actually charging.
