HOOKED ON THE FIXER-UPPER...
At the annual Victorian Home and Garden Tour, Lighthouse Cove, California’s premier contractor, Shannon Hammer, realizes that the competition is about to turn deadly…. Shannon is in high demand among rival homeowners, who will do anything to win Best in Show. One-upmanship and even espionage break out among neighbors, construction crews, decorators, and landscapers. Thanks to several new hires, Shannon is sure she can handle the extra load—until murder throws a wrench in the works. The small town’s corrupt building inspector is found dead on one of Shannon’s job sites, and soon plenty of suspects are coming out of the woodwork. When another body is discovered, Shannon calls on her team of close friends and devilishly astute thriller writer Mac to help her nail down the details and build a case against the killer before the door shuts on someone else—for good.My Thoughts: In the beautiful little town of Lighthouse Cove, in Northern California, Shannon Hammer enjoys success with the construction company she inherited from her dad. Renovating beautiful Victorian houses is her specialty. She also seems to find a lot of dead bodies, and her tendency to try to solve the mysteries is a fun part of the story.I enjoyed her relationship with the mystery writer, Mac, and couldn’t help but love how she tried to solve another kind of mystery for her newest construction worker, Amanda Walsh. Some of the characters were clearly suspects just because of their horrific personalities, while others just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.Watching Shannon and her crew do their jobs, in addition to helping find the killer, kept me turning the pages of Eaves of Destruction (A Fixer-Upper Mystery) . I also enjoy the TV show based on the books. 4.5 stars.

Very Exciting Murder Mystery
I really enjoyed this episode of Shannon Hammer, construction company owner and restorer of Victorian Homes life and adventures.Shannon has worked with many home owners, but, this Pesty Jorgenson takes the honor of her worst encounter ever. Pesty is simply a pest. She doesn't appear to like anyone. Shannon doesn't even try to figure out why Pesty is so mean-spirited, she just has an instant dislike for the person. Pesty's home is another feeling altogether. The Victorian is amazing and the challenge awesome to restore it in time for the annual Victorian Home and Garden Tour.In order to handle all the jobs that have popped up for the festival, Shannon is introduced to a new lady worker who specializes in wood carving. Just what the Jorgenson house needs. However, there seems to be an instant 'recognition' between Amanda, the new worker, and the Jorgensons. What is going on?Then, the mean building inspector, Joe Scully ends up dead and all of Shannon's detective senses go on full alert. She contacts, Mac, the Author and her love interest, and the two try to figure it all out. There was all sorts of puzzles and adventures in this volume of a favorite series. A darn good murder mystery and the ending? Well, be sure to read the entire book to receive the proper impact. It will have you gasping. Great read!

Shannon's private eye skills
I chose this read bc the cover caught my eye. Too much fluff or side points that made it longer to read. Yes, I would recommend this read with a word of caution, "lots of Fluff with an over the top ending.

Just ok
Light and fairly entertaining, but I've read much better fiction.

Good Cozy
I really like the characters in this series. I enjoy the mysteries, though they are not so hard to figure out. I am waiting for Mac to pop the question. Maybe next book in the series?

A little bit of Victorian Murder
Once again, Kate Carlisle has brought together a gang of characters so fun and relatable in a setting so picturesque that you find yourself wishing you could make reservations at the inn for your next vacation. Of course there's that little issue of a murderer on the loose. I love that as Shannon & Mac suss out their investigation, they aren't keeping secrets under their hat so you have no chance of solving it yourself. I can't wait to see what Kate has in store for them all next and where the various relationships will go in the next book. This book is fun, has a good mystery or two and the occasional twist to keep you on your toes.

I love these books
I enjoyed these books have four of them they tell a story, but also carry on from the previous one. I like the characters and the story lines, some with a twist an all round good read. A light read that one can put down, but pick up again with seamless continuity.

Another great read from Kate Carlisle!
I love this series! It’s great to see a strong woman character who is successfully working in a profession that is historically dominated by men. There were lots of twists, turns and surprises in this fifth book in Kate Carlisle’s Fixer-Upper Mystery Series. When murder happens on her job site, Shannon Hammer and her friend, Mac, can’t help but investigate. I love how Ms. Carlisle developed her plots and characters. Attention to detail kept my interest until the very end. Great read! Can’t wait for the next one! This book was gifted to me by the author, with no expectation for a review.

Kate Carlisle Books
I like all of Kate’s books. Her characters are realistic and lead normal lives apart from frequently tripping over dead bodies. I find the humour great as well.
