Review: Fun and Exciting Project - Very affordable, fun activity! The crystals started growing within hours. You definitely have to follow the directions and times to a T to make sure they grow correctly. Our pure white one, small one grew the best. I am tempted to buy another kit and figure out what exactly causes better crystal formations...is it the "coloring seeds" and their shape/size?...Some of the seeds are mere granules and others are bigger, similar to a tiny rock. Maybe just putting 1 larger "color seed" is better for the smaller container?...The varying sizes of the coloring seeds also make it a little difficult to accurately measure "one scoop"...but overall definitely a fun experiment and better than watching plants grow! lol...younger kids definitely need some help as well.

**Q: Can these be displayed for years or are they disposable in a few days?**
A: For years. YEARS. It's been at least five years since I've last made these and their all missing their broken display cases but they just sit on my shelf. They are all perfectly fine, aside from maybe being pretty dusty.

**Q: Is it toxic**
A: According to the packaging warnings, yes, it is. However, the most basic care and attention can avoid any issues. Example, do not consume the chemicals with clear labels of their toxicity. You basically grow the crystal then put it in a display case. It is not for handling. I am not the most careful individual in the world and I did not perish using the product. My cat was smart enough not to consume the product as well. However, if someone were to get ill from the product, I think that would be considered natural selection more than anything.

**Q: About how long does a experiment take?**
A: It takes about 45 min to set up including boiling some water and letting it cool. The directions are very good. Once set-up is complete it could take up to 7-days for crystals to grow but I saw results overnight. Hope this helps.

**Q: How big does this get and do you only get to grow 1 crystal?**
A: One crystal cluster, about 2-3/4" wide (3" dia. container), about 2" high. Ours is a white crystal. My 8 year old enjoys shining a flashlight under and behind it to see the light effects.

Very affordable, fun activity! The crystals started growing within hours. You definitely have to follow the directions and times to a T to make sure they grow correctly. Our pure white one, small one grew the best.
