US Pro Bergen Professional CV Clamp Tool and CV Joint Boot Clamp Pliers Set

Broke first time I used it - unfortunately this was 3 years after I had bought it. It managed the smaller crimp / circlip on a VW Polo, but couldn’t do the job on the external clip on an outer cv boot. Wouldn’t mind but it says professional quality - it certainly is not. If I had used it as soon as I got it would ask for a refund, but in mind there is a trade description / fit for purpose question that Bergen / Amazon need to consider here.

I've had a few Bergen tools before with no problems at all. Something has gone drastically wrong with these as they broke on the first clip with very little force applied. It didn't move the clamp at all on my Passat b5.5 CV outer before completely shearing at the pivot point. Bought them quite a while ago without using them, as last time I ended up using tile nippers to get the job done when these were still in the post as I needed the car. What a waste of money as I imagine I cannot return them now and means my car is up on jacks while waiting for another tool to arrive. Would not recommend at all, and do not deserve even 1 star. Buy higher quality.

Don't even THINK of attaching a CV boot clip without using these, they make the job so much easier.My advice would be to buy a good quality set of CV boot clips (not the cheap shiny ones, get the thick matt-silver ones) and watch a youtube video on how to use these pliers if you've never done it before.

Pliers broke on first use and the trimmers opening is too thin to take a standard CV boot clip. Best to look for a heavy duty plier, sealey make a good set.

These tools are cheap and saved me a major headache when replacing the cv boots on my audi. If you were using these day in day out they probably wouldnt last terribly long but for the home mechanic it is more than adequate. delivery was quick and am glad that these are in my toolbox for the next time im up to my elbows in cv boot grease.

Not really up to the job. Tried it on VAG cv boot clip and it just couldn't do it. Tool bended before the clip. Ended up using a blunt pair of side cutters and two bars.
