Phoenix PF214348 8in Shower Diverter, Brass

This is an exact (OEM) replacement for the original assembly that was installed on my tub/shower. The original met it's demise when my heel somehow whacked it while stumbling into the shower early one morning, said original being in service for about 20 years. So if the new unit lasts that long I won't complain! I used the original mounting hardware (plastic "finger" nuts) instead of the metal nuts and lock-washers that came with the new assembly - simply because it was more convenient. I did not need or use the included shower head and feed pipe (put them away as spare parts.)So it works fine, looks shiny, but it's still a piece of plastic! So, like another reviewer, I can't find it within myself to give an inexpensive plastic thing five stars! However, provided it doesn't get whacked by a foot or other object, it should give years of service.

These Phoenix tub/shower valves are not the best quality. Mostly plastic except for brass stems. Unfortunately when replacing an existing Phoenix valve you don't have many better options.Installation is easy if you have access to the back side of the valve. After you turn the water off to the house disconnect the 1/2" nuts on the shower riser as well as the hot and cold water. Then unscrew the 1/2" nuts on the hot and cold side of the valve body. Once you have it removed go around to the bathroom side of the wall and clean up the tub where the old faucet was installed. If the tub surround is rough or uneven you might want to put a little plumbers putty or silicon under the mounting plate to seal it. Then repeat the steps (in reverse) you did to remove the old faucet. Don't over tighten the mounting nuts or you could strip the plastic threads. (The nuts are metal) Turn the water back on and test the faucet.

Needed a replacement faucet and decided on this one. Very easy to replace, took about 5 minutes. I'm a firm believer you get what you pay for, not many options available. Yes it is plastic but then again finish may not corrode like more expensive big box store ones, Also 8" spacing limits what is available. So far very happy. Turns on, turns off, diverter works fine and no leaks. Simple installation. Hard to love anything made out of plastic therefor could not give it 5 - stars

The handles and diverter work fine but the shower head is not great. Whistles when you turn shower on. The head has too small of a hole in it for the pressure and there was no screen in.Had to replace with a new shower head.

Perfect replacement, nice quality, fits exactly. These things wear out in about 15 years, so it helps to be able to find a replacement so easily.Amazon service is so good I broke my old faucet on Saturday, ordered this one to replace and it arrived at 8:15 am Monday morning. It would have taken me more time to let my fingers do the walking to find a supplier to purchase one from and the price would surely have been twice as much...

This unit perfectly replaced an older similar item in a mobile home. It was very easy to replace and no special tools were required. I had a lot of anxiety about doing this and put it off for a long time. I am a 58 year old woman with limited plumbing skills. Thank God for both Amazon and YouTube. You saved me a lot of money.
